Ithaca Beer Co. - Introducing Box of Hops

Just picked one up in Beverly MA for $23. Gonna make a dent in it tonight. Double zilla sounds great

 

We had dinner at the Ithaca Beer Pub in Ithaca last weekend, and I had a sampler of the "Box of Hops," which for a Hop Head like me, was fantastic. So I grabbed a 12 pack, and I'm enjoying the Double Zilla right now. It's a little intense for me, but good. The Flower Power is my thing. The Dark Vine (had it for dinner) is really roasty, not really good for a Black IPA, conflicts with the hop flavor. I thought Creeker was better than typical for a double IPA, which are usually syrupy sweet and super bitter. I have these in the fridge, but need to enjoy them soon, since they must be fragile. I definitely recommend this 12 pack. Cheers!

 

Saw this at Wine and More in Mansfield. Flower Power is a great IPA. Anyone try the new ones? They sound like they should be solid additions to Ithaca's lineup. Gotta figure out if I wanna buy mix 12 or seek them out individually to try first.

 

Sorry, I just buy Flower Power by the multiples, especially when it's super fresh near me. THE great east coast IPA for me.
That said, I wouldn't mind getting those other beers...but the pack is out of my price range.

 

My take so far

The creeker - excellent
The black IPA -very much enjoyed
Double zilla - not all that good

I agree with the two sentiments above. I was able to get these 3 offerings separately as my shop swapped out the FP for me. I had the DZ on Monday and I didn't think it was good at all. Had the Black Vine last night and enjoyed it. Will be trying The Creeker tonight.

 

I'll wait until they put creeker out in 4 packs due to popular demand. I'm not interested pouring $12+ worth of beer into chili/down the drain.

$24 at the brewery, curious how much it is retail here...

 

Speaking of Flower Power - anyone seen any recent dates in the area?

All the stores I visit still have cases of the 8/13 or 8/26 on the floor - haven't seen a new date beyond that. Oh well, it was a good run for a while anyway.

It was Austin's Beverage on Ridge Pike in Collegeville. Never made it back there, so not sure if they have any left.

 

I paid $25 for the box in NY (Westchester County), haven't seen it on this side of the border in CT. We've had very fresh flower power recently in this part of CT (much fresher across the border in NY, though).

 

this nails it but worth adding that Creeker blows Flower Power to shreds

 

Shit, I thought I saw it for maybe $22.99 in Syracuse (Syracuse Real Food Co-op, but don't quote me on that)

 

I need to have them in the same night, but I think I agree with that. I split the Creeker and Double Zilla with a buddy from out of town the first night (and was glad I didn't have to drink the whole Double Zilla) and then had the black and flower power the next night.

 

Has anyone spotted these in or near Allston?

I was just at Ithaca Beer Company on Sunday and I thought they were like $24 there, but my memory might be failing me. Unfortunately they didn't have ANY of them available on draft, but I couldn't bring myself to pony up that much cash for a 12 pack.
