Oh yeah . . must have been faulty carriers. Because I had the same thing happen to me with CWBBBW! As I was unlocking the front door, the bottom fell out and all four bottles of deliciousness broke on my front porch. :grimacing: After I snapped out of the trauma of that moment, I reveled in the aroma of that BBBW before I cleaned it up and ran back to the liquor store for more. :grinning:

I spilled a bottle of Pliny the elder when pouring. Luckily I was in Cali and the bottle was only 6$ at the store. Wasn't too upset

I shipped over 200 bottles of beer from Belgium to Washington state. When they arrived and I unpacked them 3 cantillon 750s and a 3 Fonteinen 750 had popped open. A few of them still had the corks in the bottles but they had leaked. :slight_frown:

How much did that cost? :grimacing:

I shipped them all for free. Being in the military I am allowed to take as much as I want assuming the state I move back to allows imports. 100% free, no taxes, no importation costs.

I remember two accounts with a happy ending, fortunately.

    1) I request a Kaliber (without alcohol) on tap in Seville years ago. After I take a few sips, the glass slipped. The fall. The destruction, of course. And a messy liquid. I don't miss it. Shameful parody of beer.

    2) I request an Alvinne Morpheus Dark in a very good bar here, in Madrid. The barman opened it. The Morpheus yeast goes crazy and I couldn't drink that. Just foam. Fortunately, the barman gives me another bottle of same (in good state) without additional charge. Enjoyed that.

And another account with a bad ending. I bought three Bischofshof Dunkel for share with a friend of mine. We drank two, but the other changed its state: pure mess of liquid, dark glass and breweriana because I saved the beer in a bad place, the edge of a fridge's shelf.

    So embarrassing...

I recently bought a new type of skin lotion. I actually said out loud " damn, that's some silky smooth lotion." I did my dishes and put on some lotion then went to crack a double dose from otter creek. poured the beer, picked it up and went to go sit down and watch some netflix. as I sat down the glass of beer slipped from my grasp and landed on my lap. six bux down the drain. fudge.

I was about to pour myself a bottle of St Lam and realized I forgot my Cantillon glass for it. As I went to get it, my daughter grabbed the bottle and let it drop (not on purpose, though). Not a good memory...

Last weekend I grabbed the last case of my beloved Nugget Nectar from Troegs off the rack at my local store. It was snowing that day and it was slippery outside. I should have been more careful, but just as I was bringing it into my garage, the cardboard ripped and the case slipped from my hands and hit the snowy ground. I cringed to the sound of glass breaking. Luckily, only 2 of the 24 were shattered leaking their hoppy goodness into the new fallen snow. I contemplated making a beer snow cone but the risk of eating broken glass was not appealing. It could have been so much worse but you hate seeing good beer wasted.
Has anyone ever had a worse beer mishap?

Yes ive had a worse mishap.

A few years ago my house burnt down. The living room came crashing down into the basement on top of my 200+ bottle beer cellar.

    Nothing survived.

Talk about worst-case scenario, that sucks. Did insurance cover the cost of anything?

Living in California, I'm just scared of earthquakes shaking all my bottles off of my shelves.

I'm sure many posters here will have had a worse mishap than two broken nugget nectars but I'd doubt any will have one worse than squiggys. Thread, and hopefully all others of its ilk, over.

Yes insurance payout was nice but the beer just couldn't be bought with cash.
Ive spent the past couple years rebuilding the cellar. So far im around 120 beers.

Because of the arctic weather in Chicago, I've had a few bottles explode in the garage this year. But nothing close to losing a 200 bottle cellar.

Had a wake not bake break in the box during delivery from a trade, UPS was nice enough to re package all of the other beer and soaked box into a plastic bag, cut the label off the soaked box, and repackage the box wrapped in plastic in another new box and taped the beer soaked label back on.

The owner of one of the bottle shops I go to had her house burglarized, and her entire beer collection was stolen out of her basement. Her advice to me was to make certain that the beer is covered by insurance in case, well, something happens that wipes out the collection.

Somebody actually clicked the "like" button on that post? WTF.

    Sorry about your misfortune.

My worst mishap to date is giving a friend a Founders Breakfast Stout, and seeing it fall through the 6-pack holder to the floor in the restaurant and smash into oblivion.... then a week later, on New Years, I give him a replacement, and a friend at a New Year's party was putting her coat on and swung her arm through the coat and knocked the unopened bottle to the floor... smash again.

Last year at Dark Lord Day I was standing having a beer talking to my friend. A guy walks buy us with a case of beer and his 3 Dark Lords sitting on top of the case. I pointed it out to my buddy and said, "That's dangerous!" literally 15 seconds after he walked past us I heard bottles breaking. When we turned around there were broken Dark Lord bottles on the ground. The most distrubing thing was that people were taking empty cups and trying to catch the DL was it ran down the sidewalk (I have apicture but it wont attach!)

I actually had a sightly less bumming mishap than my last one.
I had a trade set up for a case of BCBS. Upon arrival i was missing like 7 bottles and the remaining bottles reeked of beer and was sticky. At least UPS repackaged everything.
