Not a fan of this list. Mainly because I just don't really understand why it was made.
Not really a beer hunt when most of those brews can be found in any gas station or supermarket.
For some reason I was thinking this list was gonna be like top rated/ most coveted or something. Like:
    NY - Rosso Merrone
    CT - Fuzzy Baby Ducks
    VT - Heady
    CA - Pliny
    etc...

I would say Spotted Cow for Wisconsin since we all know Linies is a MillerCoors product.

They "cut out macro-brewers", but Rolling Rock is the beer given for PA..... smh

I have to keep in mind that this thread is the most popular beer per state.

the list said city steam's naughty nurse. that may be true due to bottle sales but for me the most popular in CT is hands down Gandhi Bot. period.

    Most popular....
Sweetwater 420 :slight_frown: good beer but Monday Night Brewing is about to give them a run for their money. I live in Savannah and 420 definitely is not the most popular...

This list is based on objective data, and that makes it better than most IMHO.

Edit: Though it does include a few non craft beers, despite making the claim "We’ve stripped out the macro-breweries, and have focused solely on the craft beers..."

Spotted Cow. Not my go to NG beer (still decent brew!) in WI but this is likely what keeps the brewery going. Most Wisconsinites love this. When you enter the town of New Glarus, their welcome sign says "Home of the Spotted Cow."

HA! That popped out to me when I saw it as well!
Really a pretty lame list... Some that stood out to me as well were "Fat tire" from Colorado??? Blah... SNPA from Cali? No respect from me on this list...

Note: I'm not dogging on SNPA, just think there are probably a hundred better offerings.

Although Eddie Fitz is a very good beer, there's more popular beers from that brewery alone for Ohio! Great Lakes Christmas Ale is wildly popular!

Better than most? They explicitly state that they do not include macrobrews in the list, then go on to list macros. They cannot even follow their own guidelines.

The most consistent result on any of these polls or maps is that Brooklyn Lager is always representing New York. I succumbed and tried it but not before I shot my mouth off about how I wasn't going to like it all that much. . . :flushed: Well, I did. I did like it. And there it is again on this poll!

Yes, most lists are horrendous. With this one, you can't argue with the data (well, for the 46 states where they actually picked a craft beer you can't argue with the data).

No way is Rogue Dead Guy the most popular craft beer in Oregon. Pretty sure that honor belongs to Widmer Hefeweizen, which can be found on tap anywhere from ball parks to the local VFW hall.

NY will always be Brooklyn Lager.

I thought it was hilarious when my friend told me that Brooklyn Brewery had no impact or influence on the craft beer scene just because he didn't like their beers.

Not only is Rolling Rock the most obvious non-craft beer on this list of craft beer, it hasn't even been brewed in PA since 2006. I can forgive them for including Kona and Magic Hat and even Leinenkugel, but putting Rolling Rock on the list is pretty embarrassing, isn't it?

Sweet Baby Jesus is god awful. Really surprised (and disappointed) that Heavy Seas Loose Cannon isn't the frontrunner for MD.

This was based on the beers that had the most entries logged on their web site. The criteria were not sales, ratings by beer geeks, or how rare the beers were.

Yes, they had 5 beers owned by large brewers on that list that are not in the Brewers Association list (that is its own discussion). Leinies, Kona, Magic Hat, Rolling Rock, Redhook by my count. I may have missed one or two.
