Does Colorado law allow shipping of alcohol out of the state by UPS retail outlets?

I hear you. Hard to imagine flying with more than a dozen or at most a case. I'd probably either need to purchase some packaging materials down there and ship it back home, or else just buddy up with a fellow BA to trustee even if I do decide to fly down for the event.

Same shipping rules apply here as anywhere else. You can't ship alcohol without a license.

I have one guy I trustee for that has bought over 200 bottles. You aren't taking it all back on a plane unless you intend not to buy extras.

I forgot to add that if you aren't buying extras less talk

I still think your best bet is to find a trustee and have him or her ship at least some of your bottles along the way. You'll be pretty sad if you don't have any of the beer until November 2014!!

They do make Styrofoam shippers that hold 24 375s in one box. Worked well for the free bags on Southwest.

If you buy a lot of extras and end up in the 100+ bottles club, it might even be worth scheduling a road trip for.

Well, I just got an email from CS saying that I was selected. It said:

"No friends/family/etc will be able to purchase or "gift" a membership to lottery winners. The credit card information must match the name of the lottery winner, NO EXCEPTIONS."

I'm wondering if a bunch of people had family members sign up and got denied as such. Either way, the odds weren't very good the first time around, I must have gotten pretty lucky to be selected in the second wave. anyone else get an email today? :grinning:

Must be the memberships that didn't get purchased the first time around

These are the same ones I bought. It's essentially a stack of 4 6-bottle Styrofoam shippers for 375s in one outer box, so your bottles are almost certain to be lying on their side most of the time, but that's how the pulp shippers work anyway. I seriously taped the bottom, top, and all corners of the box, and put a small ring of newspaper around each bottle and a small wad in the bottom of each compartment. Checked 72 bottles that way without incident.

22oz beers also fit in these.

That's good to know; hadn't thought to try it. Not sure if 24 bombers in one box would get under 50-lb weight limit for some airlines, but a mixed box could.

They will. I brought my Crooked Stave beers back home with me when in town for GABF. I had two if those 24-bottle shippers. ~43lbs each.

22oz bombers are a bit heavier then the 375ml bottles. If yours was 43lbs I would say the added with 24 bombers instead of the 375ml bottles would put it over the 50lb mark.

My bad. I thought he was referring to 24 of the smaller bottles. Got things mixed up.
