I gave it a 4.75 back in 09 through a trade with Nutbrown. No, not a local brew for me and never will be, if I may be bold enough to say so.

Personally I think it is the best IPA I've ever had. I am a huge advocate of citris/tropical forward hop notes. Everyone's taste buds are different though, and I don't buy into the whole "everyone else likes it, so I have to like it too" thing. Don't over think any beer, you either like it or you don't, there's no wrong answer.

This thread is irritating me. It's irritating that I am unable to trade for it, and irritating that my brother who lives in FL has not sent me any.

    Irritating...so very irritating.

Brought a bunch back from FL and shared it with friends last spring, they all thought it was terrific. Definitely one of my favorites.

It's good, but it didn't bring me to mention it to others. I won't buy it again most likely. Also, 7.5% is too high an ABV for an IPA, for me that is.

    All of them:wink:
    Some of my favorites were
Flower Power ( my recent go to )
    Alcahemy Hour
    Dirt Wolf
    Sucks
    Double Jack
    Hoptimum
    Pretty much anything Lagunitas
    DFH
    Two Hearted
    Racer 5
    Union Jack
    Stone
    Double Trouble
    Head Hunter
Nugget Nectar was my first. I still love it but I hate that its just not the same to me. I feel like an addict chasing that first taste. It was so good. But now after drinking so many great beers it just dosnt taste the same.
There's a lot of heavy hitters missing from my list that aren't easily available to me. I don't stress it much cause there are plenty of greats available. I'll try them sooner or later

It was pretty good, but I've had a lot of better IPA's I thought were better. I'll agree that it is seriously drinkable considering it's ABV. That may have also been because I was hanging out on the beach and puttin em away pretty easy...

I found it to be ok. I thought to myself. ehhh, i wouldn't trade for it again, but would pick up some if it was in a local store.

For me, it's not that great. I'd file it in between Flower Power and Lunch under "Forgettable-though-hyped IPAs" ...because I file things alphabetically.

Definitely not worth the irritation you suffer with.

As long as it's fresh, it's a fantastic ipa. The white oak is tasty as well, but the humidor version is the best of the available options.

I was the same way, A very good IPA. But I think by now most markets have IPA's on the same level

Head to Surly and have a Fresh Furious, I swear it will restore your faith in all mankind

    Good, not great.

Brewed in an underserved state in the country though, so I can see why it stands out for some.

Jai Alai is one of my favorite IPAs. I haven't had a lot of it since you can't get it here in MO but every time I have it's been excellent. I've got another 6 pack of it headed my way soon. Centennial (IMO) isn't even in the same ballpark.

I rank Jai Alai right up there with my other favorite IPAs (Odell IPA, Union Jack, Furious).

Well, it's an IPA, so the answer to your question depends on how oxidized the beer is when you're drinking it.
