I'm not really a fan of the new logo. Why fix something that isn't broken?

    Absolutely agree.

jk's and my point is all this could be avoided by putting the name of the style on the handle or in the name of the beer. Do you have some objection to Kane doing that?

No - I get that, totally, and I would be fine with it.

I recall you are a big RD fan - I think Naysayer is the only one with the style in the name - do their handles have the style on them?

Haha no they don't, and I would love it if they did, or if the names of the rest of their lineup contained style. It would surely be good for business.

A big part of putting the names on the tap handles is simple money. You would need new tap handles everytime you send out a new beer.

As for not calling it Head High IPA or Port Omna Stout yeah that could be an easy long term fix.

It's solely on bar management when they tap a keg of ANYTHING to give their bartenders a little rundown on what it tastes like, maybe a sample of said beer and certainly what type of beer it is. You really expect a brewer or rep to come tell bartenders what a beer is every time they tap one of their kegs?

Uh, no, I don't. Which is why my original post in this thread (in which I dared criticize the branding/promotion of a small, local brewery :grimacing:) was:

Or they could continue to update and use the small handout they had when their beers first hit the market - supply the bars and their bar staff with them.

Again, Kane's "generic/brewery name only" tap handle design was their branding decision. There are numerous designs (separate clips, removable inserts, small blackboards/white erasable board [<granted, not too professional looking], etc) that allow a brewer to change the beer name on the handle, rather than buying new, unique handles for every new beer.

I don't know, it doesn't seem so bad to suggest things that might help a local brewery sell more beer... to me, there's no brewery's brand, marketing or promotion that is sacrosanct. These "go to a better bar" responses ignore the fact that Kane chooses to supply these bars that "suck" with their beers.

    :astonished:

Sorry, I thought this was the "Mid-Atlantic" forum - pretty much "First World" as I understand it (well, having lived in the rural Twin Tiers region and way upstate - along the Canadian border - NY, I guess one could make some county by county exceptions:wink:).

Seems to me, most "problems" noted in, at least, all of the US regional BA forums would also fall under the snarky category of a "First World Problem".

Although, when I was in the non-aligned ("Third World") country of Nigeria in the 70s in the Peace Corps, even they wanted to know the style of beer before laying down their money. Ditto for the beer drinkers I noticed on a trip to Communist ("Second World") Cuba with the SWP back in the late 90s. Go figure, right?

There are tons of breweries that don't list the type of the beer after the name.

How do you feel about Hill Farmstead?

I like the new logo better. I definitely think it will have more versatility across different kinds of merch.

I'm guessing all of those annoy him too. I don't understand why this is such a problem for you. I agree with Jesskidden completely though it doesn't stop me from ordering beers anyway unlike him.

Look pretty good on their new growlers!

and finally 1L growlers/fills. Been waiting for this. Now I can take 3 beers home with me instead of usually just 1.

Thank you for posting that! I've been waiting for them to get growlers back in stock before I visit. Now I just need to find free time when they're open...

They do put the styles up on the board at the brewery. Don't most bars do that on a board or on the draft menu?

Yeah, this is great news. I don't know what took them so long though. But I very rarely take a drive down, but now I can honestly say that I'd be much more inclined to go knowing I can take more home with me now.

The price point of the new growlers is a little steep though. Very glad that they will fill any 32oz growler.

nice... love the new growlers, but also love that they finally fill 750s... that is great news!

empty growler prices still seem a bit high though, $12 and $10 i think...
