Happy New Years. I spent it drinking bad beer. Blasphemy but I'm in Boston so that helps

Where were you drinking bad beer? You need to be steered in the right direction while you're in town.

Tried to stomach a glass of Cacaonut by the Brueru and it was horrible. The batch I had must have been infected because I couldn't take more than one tip before I had to drain pour it. So friggin sour. Would love to hunt down the brewmaster and nut check him for making me suffer through that sip.

happy new year / rabbit rabbit, dudes! hope you're all slumbering safe and sound. for the first time in many years, we had a quiet NYE at home with a couple good friends. Drank a couple good local IPAs, shared a bottle of Beauregarde (mehhhh), and solo'd a b3 prairie bomb. T'was a good night.

Saw something on this website somewhere about the Bruery again copping to selling people awful beers and offering apologies and other (more monetarily sound) recompense. So you should have some recourse as far as nut checking Patrick goes.

For those looking for some pr0n, @jpsboom came over for a brew session this morning to make a saison of his own on the braumeister. Of course, he had to have a glass of Knifehand while we stood around.

After the session was over, however, not sure what to make of his saison. He may post a picture here later but it came out cloudy as hell and very thick. I'm fairly certain it's because we ended up pouring in the cold break material and I'm hoping it just clears up during fermentation. With that said, he did change up his normal recipe and added 1.5lbs of acidulated malt hoping to give it a more tart/sour taste. We taste tested when reading the OG and while the OG was spot on, everything about it was different. Very thick, extremely cloudy with a color resembling a light caramel, and tasted like honey (we did add 1lb at the end of boil which accounts for the taste). Guess we'll see how it turns out in the near future.

I should bring the braumeister over to @zekeman17 place during the bottle share so we can do a SWTFYW beer collaboration. Took me and @jpsboom about 5 hours from start to finish.

I don't think it's a huge deal if it's a little cloudy, but I guess it depends on what's making it cloudy. Did you guys use Irish Moss or something similar to help coagulate?

No, not at all. Only thing other than the normal grains added was acidulated malt. I'm sure he'll post in a bit.

Now that I've read up on it a bit more, I think it's definitely the cold break. I've never done a protein rest before but his beer recipe called for it so I did a 15 minute protein rest at the beginning. I think it was all the proteins that were released that coagulated during the hot and cold break.

"Enjoyed" a Leinenkugel Snowdrift Vanilla Porter on NYE - the Hop Ranch I had made up for it, though.

I solo'd a 12er of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale on NYE... whoops. Felt great in the morning still though; I love being in college .

That's really F'd up. Not only did he screw you out of your trade but now he is selling the beer you sent him. Talk about screwing someone over twice...
