There seem to be a lot of threads on here asking about packaging. What it comes down to is Dirt Wolf or whatever beer is X amount per bottle...so you are going to be paying the same for it whether it is in a four or six pack. Price point is the major issue.

Who knows and who cares. I don't take price into account unless it is absurdly different from other beers around it at my local stores. Bigfoot goes for about the same price per 4 pack as does Narwhal. Stone IPA is $15 a six pack and Ruination $10. They are on par as being average price to me. Not like I am buying 5 four packs a week anyways. And I will buy a $10 bomber no problem because a lot of them with the exception of Stone and of course Lagunitas average that price. Put a $20 bomber in front of me then I will take notice because it is much higher than the others around it. In the end they could make it into 6 packs at $15 but seeing as the average price for most beers, at least around my area, is $10 whether it be a bomber, six pack or four pack it will make you think twice.

    6 pack is too much.

    Two 4 packs though. ...

Hop Ranch is the same price and way better. Dirt Wolf is but a polished turd in the eyes of the goldmine that is Hop Ranch

I have my case ordered and I am picking it up on Wednesday. Based off of the reviews, I have very high expectations.

all I know is I compute the per bottle price. If it gets too much over 2 bucks a bottle, its time to switch beers.
frankly 7-8 to a six pack and 10 a 4 is my limit. If they climb any higher I guess I be buy the cheaper beers, until they price me out. I hope that never happens.

not saying I do not exceed my limits every now and then, you cannot not drink Founders 4 packs at 10.79. I am flexible, within my budget.

Don't you have to know the price of them before you make a general statement like that? I pay $7.99 for my Dirtwolf 4 packs so they are priced right in NJ where I shop.

I don't feel 4 packs are a ripoff when you compare them with bombers which are the ultimate robbery in the craft beer world. In most cases, 4 packs line up in price with 6 packs oz for oz. Here, Dirtwolf is 9.99/4 pack. That is not out of line. Think about that when you grab a $8 22oz bomber.

I dont have a problem with 4 packs of this and Hop Ranch. Both are amazing. 4 packs are better than bombers eight days a week.

I think it has a lot more to do with cost of the beer they're producing and the life cycle of said product. If it's a limited run beer that costs a bunch to produce (barrel aged, coffee added, etc) no one is gonna want a $40 6 pack anyway and that's where a bomber comes into play. See Backyard in bombers for $20 or so vs their regular BCBS in 4 packs for $20-25.

I think it's a numbers game...beer drinkers are more frugal with their money than wine drinkers. That $10 or so range is where it cuts off for a ton of people. Just go read any thread about Sculpin paying $14/6er when they would drop everything and pay $8 a bomber of Enjoy By.

I understand that and thank god for it. It was a knock on bombers in general and how they are a complete rip off. People will bitch about a 4 pack @ $9.99 then turn around and buy an $8 bomber of some other IPA or a $20 bomber of whatever overpriced flavor of the month is this month.

The first point you make (about cost and life cycle) would be valid if not for the fact that even normal release beers for which freshness isn't much of an issue (quads, stouts, barleywines, etc) are going to the 4-pack format. I do, however, agree that cost has something to do with it. It's the equivalent of dropping the price on a bag of chips, only to realize the bag now has 12 ounces of chips instead of 16, like it used to, as well as my point of budgeting out beer trips.

Comparing Sculpin to Enjoy By is apples and oranges. Yes, they are bot DIPA's, but one is a standard, full-time release, and one is an extremely limited, short-time release. People will always be willing to pay more for "whalez bro!"

Bombers are a huge huge rip off...........but its a damn shame that many of them are quite nice.
