Stopped at Stoudts last weekend in between Troegs and Victory. Cool place. I enjoyed Fat Dog stout. Their pale ale and IPAs were OK, but all had a very heavy bread flavor. Good, just a bit of an off flavor that took away from them a bit. It wasn't as bad in the DIPA as the others with the alcohol and heavy hop flavor. Not sure if that is the yeast they use or something else.

Picked up their barleywine, so I've been drinking that. It's not what I'm used to with a barleywine. Pretty heavy carbonation and not as much of a hop flavor. Almost more of a tripel or quad, just without the belgian yeast flavor.

It seems better than before, but that could because it is in 12oz 4 packs instead of bombers now!

I don't think this one was any the worse for wear with the addition of coriander and orange peel. The orange peel was a deep resonance from within the beer and overall orangey lightness. The coriander made the difference between what could have been perceived as syrupy sweetness without this bit of earthy spice to help offset it. You might like this one because what is was - was exotic and very fruity.
I tried it too and got the same "mixed result." I am told you have to pour the dark beer over a spoon into the glass so it disperses and sits on top.

Closest to a Utopia barrel without shelling out almost two bills. Well....maybe not. Either way, still pretty good.

Having a hopslam. I've had hopslam the past three years, and it has been delicious, but this years batch is so damn good! Haven't been blown away by a DIPA since I had Pipeworks Citra.

I do not care for coriander or orange peel that much in my beer I like the darker fruit notes of a quad, but not those flavors I've been finding I do not care for spiced beers. Not that I don't randomly keep trying them.

This mother was fantastic! You should probably drink it when you're craving an IPA, though!

My day so far…I have some others on deck. Work hard all week, why not enjoy the weekend?

Was not a big fan of the Pisgah pale ale, but not terrible. Loving the NoDa Jam Session. Cheers y'all!

I had one bottle of Hopslam a couple of years ago and I was stunned at how smooth it was. It really made me reconsider my whole existence, and at the same time, curse my local distributors for not supplying this to my state.
