What year is your 50/50 Brandy? The '10 bottle count is extremely low.

I don't know, seems like this post could contend for this title as well...

I recently traded a Rare for 4 X Beat b5. Both parties were happy and now I have a few Beats to cellar. My opinion is there are still Rare's out there available for trade but the beers listed above aren't going to make it happen.

If you can make it to BASC whenever that is, that should help a lot. Even so it'll take a lucky combo of a bunch of stuff I think.

There's always tastings, too - not to pile on from missing the Friday tasting at SC this year, but there was a Rare there.

It just takes the right person at the right time .... and I honestly NEVER thought I would score a single RARE let alone two (especially so long after the release).

I traded for a RARE twice in the last 4-5 months. One time was 1for1 for a Snake River Le Serpent (not hyped, but definitely a hell of a lot more rare) ... and the other was for quantity of Deschutes Reserve stuff.

I think both times both parties walked away pretty stoked.

Right person/right time and cool beers get spread into other loving arms.

Just remember there are good folks out there.... Don't get discouraged.

I honestly don't think it's worth giving up a large number of the beers you have. Granted I have never had Rare, but you have a ton of quality stuff as is and I feel like trading a bunch of them for a Rare would be silly. I mean, objectively, how much better than KBS, Event Horizon, Melange 3, Abyss, Eclipse, and even regular BCBS can it actually be?

You are absolutely right and I am just using guesswork. I just remember how excited I was to try CBS, KBS, BT, ect. and how much praise the recieved, and while they were all amazing, at the end of the day a beer can only taste so good (if that makes sense). I'm sure Rare is great, hell phenomenal even, but i can't picture taste that much better than the '08 BCBS that I had a few months ago.

Blacknote was dissapointing... you really got the better end of that deal. ISO: Gi BCBS Rare FT black note x3.....think about it.

08 BCBS is past the on the way down phase. No way is 2008 BCBS better than Rare. Thats a fact.

You're right as well. But for someone who has had all of the said beers, it might not be a bad deal offering a combo for a more desirable beer if they can afford it. To drink with a tasting group? Or to simply tick?

I would never go after Rare because I can't afford it... in fact, if I may quote my review:

" I wonder though that how much does it differ from a well cellared 08 BCBS? Is it really worthy of the tag? I doubt it.

    Is it good? Fuck yeah!"

Definitely a lot more impressive than KBS and Bourbon County is too similar. Those other beers aren't even in the same class of quality. The Event Horizon is a joke.

I've had Black Note on draft and out of the bottle. It was underwhelming both times.

If you can't trade for it soon, I wouldn't bother. Just start hyping up a local beer so you can trade for the Wheat Whiskey Bourbon County, whenever it gets released.

I wouldn't have believed it had I not actually watched this In-Person trade happen, of course this happened when the Event Horizon hype was at its peak
