Dark Lord Day: 2014 Questions

The date was announced in January last year. That's pretty much it. Everything else came out in March.

 

When do we expect the tickets to go on sale? I know it was Saturday, March 17 in 2012 and Sunday, March 17 in 2013, I'm not sure if they always do it on St. Patty's day or what.

 

Yes, it's been on St. Paddy's day for several years in a row now.

 

Over 11K views so far on a thread for an event taking place in two and a half months. Wow.

 

The real wow is that is already a 5 month old thread.

 

All of the hotels within a fifteen minute drive did have shuttles by the way. I thought they were a nice addition.

 

So ummm, any news ?

Our group is thinking about renting a big van and tailgating it like it's Miller Park or Lambeau! Anyone else ever tailgate the event? I love seeing people grilling out just outside the gates.

 

Yeah you guys should get a van and tailgate and I should just go there and eat and drink

 

If DLD is ran like it was last year, you DO NOT want to tailgate. I would suggest being a gallon of water and 2-3 breakfast sammiches deep by the time you stroll into the festival at 9 am or whenever it opens. There will be insane beer on tap or being shared for 12 straight hours. Also no need to arrive early as they rushed people into the festival at the start and tapped rare stuff throughout the day.

...but DLD is usually different from year to year so take last year's info as you will.

We tailgated for most of the day last year. I knew over 20 people that went. We paid $20 per car to park in the lot behind the stage (stage was in the field across the street from the brewery). we got there at 10, got in line, immediately went through for bottles. Went back to the car, set up the grill and continued to drink. We went back and forth from our tailgate and the stage and guest tent. Some of my friends spent more time at the tailgate, some more inside the festival. 5 min walk back and fourth.

 

And some of your friends spent 4 hours looking for some of their friends. Btw; tell your wife to bring more of those delicious wraps this year. Those were fantastic.

 

This is my 3rd DLD. Tailgaters last year looked like they had a blast.

 

Tailgated the last two years and plan to do it again this year. Cigars, beer, food, and beer. Last year's weather was divine, two years it sucked arse, but both years were enjoyable.
