What beer are you drinking now? #520

Nugget Nectar followed by Hopzilla - The Hopzilla hops are pretty much gone, but it's still a tasty beer - only 6 left.

"Orange Wax" 2013 Eclipse. High West? Not familiar with the whiskey, but not a bad beer! Definitely "dryer" than the bourbon barreled stuff. Can really taste the Rye.

 

i thought this one was the High West bourbon? i had the HW rye version recently & thought it was a tiny bit rye dry but very nice. haven't had the tangerine wax thus far.

not often get to do this (on West Coast time) but working on this. will try to work it all off on the treadmill in a bit, i promise :

 

It does say HW Bourbon here on BA, but it was still "rye flavored" in my opinion. And on the High West website I only see a BourRye… not true bourbon. But the true RYE from Fifty-Fifty is the Lime Wax… Which I haven't opened yet.

 

This was last nights weekend nightcap. Went to the Missouri Beer Festival in Columbia on Saturday...5 hours of great samples, good friends and interesting conversation about one of my favorite pastimes...Deschutes was on tap and this was one of my favorite go to beers of the day...new beer glass to boot! Let the good times roll!

fwiw, don't rely on the website. pretty sure High West sources its spirit at the moment anyway. BourRye is a vatted mixture of spirit which came from Bourbon Barrels + separate spirit that came from Rye Barrels. i'm pretty sure it's not a mixture whereas the vatting/combination was done prior to barreling & aging. meaning at the end of the process, the bourbon barrels would be bourbon barrels & the rye, rye. the vatting (after the fact) makes "BourRye".

Had to drink this 2013 before next month's trip I still have my vertical going so no worries

 

Well I missed the first official day of spring to enjoy this, but better late than never!

Enjoyable, but the rye wasn't quite as prominent as I hoped.

Hi everyone. Today I had a Baranof Isalnd Brewng Company Halibut Point Hefewiezen. I liked it. I like this brewery, I wish they were close enough. I have only tried one other beer from them but it was memeorable. Silver Bay IPA. This is a unique interpretation of a hefeweizen that has all the looks, and body of a hefe but puts some citrus on the palate and plays down the banana. =) Cheer everyone !
