Ever broken or spilled a great beer?

Dropped a glass of Westy 12 last year. Was actually sitting on the floor but the glass still broke.

 

Not that rare, but I dropped a four-pack of fresh, two week old FSW Double Jack as I was putting it my car and all four bottles popped open. I cannot begin to describe how good four bottles of overflowing Double Jack smell . It was almost worth the 12 bucks.

 

I work at a beer distributor and I broke a Sam Adams utopia

 

How is that even possible? Those things look almost indestructable...

 

Nope. Broke a 750ml of crappy amaretto so it was all good.

 

Dropped a bottle of Pliny at a release in the middle of a liquor store here in Colorado. I told the guy working there I was glad it was just a Pliny and not one of the other beers they released that day...Pliny is pretty plentiful here. He told his beer buyer would love that I said that.

 

Barrel Aged DarkLord Variants on 2 occasions!!! it wasnt me personally but last year at DLD i saw a shattered bottle on the ground when i got there. Later on i met a guy who was pretty hammered (at noon!) walking around with one in his hand. He was cosidering trading it to me but when he saw his bus leaving he ran after and stumbled over the curb and fell dramatically dropping his bottle a few feet from where he landed. poor bottle... i mean poor dude. hopefully this year we pace ourselves and drink a little more responsibly. NO MORE BROKEN DARKLORD VARIANTS!

 

I bought a 4 pack of Abrasive and I walked out the store carrying it by the little holder as I opened my trunk, 3 of the cans fell off and exploded all over the ground.

 

Last night a growler of Ghandibot broke in my fridge mysteriously, but rest assured I found a home for the remaining content as only the very top of the container smashed.
About a month ago a GBot and a Coriolis smashed together in my back seat, destroying both. My buddy and I were driving back from Nebco on a Weds night and suddenly all I could smell suddenly is floral, dank, hoppy goodness. First time that scent made me feel any way but excited.

 

Dropped a bottle of Chocolate Rain, I still have nightmares.

 

Accidentally pushed a four pack of BCBS of a table in my cellar onto the concrete floor. I heard the sound of the 4 pack hitting the floor before the sweet aroma of the BCBS wafted up and I realized what had happened. I quickly grabbed my phone and texted pics to my tasting group so that they might share my pain.

 

Black Raven brewery has recently increased their bottling, but they were almost impossible to find in Seattle before this year and are still scarce in town (picking up bottles at the brewery involves a toll bridge and/or drive around the lake). Last summer they released a summer beer that I had never tried, and the only shop in town that had them was a drive through the city to south Seattle. I picked up a bottle as well as a couple more treasures and headed home. As I was unpacking my divided bottle bag (like the ones sold for wine), I piled the bottles on the counter, turned around to open the fridge and the loop handle on the bag snagged one bottle and dragged it off the counter to smash on the floor; of course it was the Black Raven bottle I had driven across town to buy. The beer karma was not good on that day.

 

So, I work at a beer shop and let's face it, dropping a beer is inevitable. Over the past few years I have been fortunate to not have dropped anything of great rarity (1 PBR, 1 Bud lite, and 1 Mirror pale). However, I have heard many stories of the rare stuff going down.

One of my good friends dropped his first KBS as soon as he opened it. Another witnessed a group of people at Dark Lord Day trying to taste a downed bottle of Dark lord from the puddle of beer and glass it had become!

I feel it's best to just look back at these moments and have a good laugh. So my question for the BA board is "what is the rarest beer you have or have witnessed drop?"

 

A stranger poured me some of his Supplication at 7venth Sun one night and I spilled it all over the table. Yeah, I felt like a dick.

 

Knocked over a glass containing a small amount of Bo & Luke. I was not happy.

 

Touch wood, but I've never dropped any beer myself, and I have never had to witness the horror of someone else dropping a rare beer.

 

sweet repute, and breakfast stout. Anything else I just don't spill.

 

A few weeks ago, just after I opened a bottle of Cuvee des Jacobins I clumsily knocked it over on the counter. I placed it upright and it started foaming over, so I placed my thumb over the top and my girlfriend rushed to grab a tulip to pour it in...as she went to place down the tulip on the counter her arm hit mine and the glass fell to the counter and shattered. Luckily only a couple oz of the beer was lost and we still got to enjoy it. The shattered tulip was a bitch to clean up though.
