Central Water BA Stout is tasting amazing this year. This version might be the best beer I have had this year, as good as Black Note IMHO. It is sweeter than KBS and with less coffee, making me wish I had some of their BBBW. I believe DDC BA Peche Mortel is the closest to KBS I have tried. Same dark chocolate that sweetened just a bit as it warms. Too bad it's hard to get down in the lower 48.

    I'm looking at you @mtomlins

Forget exactly what batch # it was (28 maybe? 29? 27?!?!), but the one bottle of Big Bad Baptist I've bought so far did not taste like it was remotely barrel aged at all. Had it on tap a week or two before then and found it to be a really good KBS Jr, so I was a bit disappointed by that.

Where I live its much easier to obtain, but I would put The Event Horizon from Olde Hickory Brewery, up against KBS any day of the week. Its released around the holidays and for a bomber you can usually score as many as you want for around $13-15. It used to be less than that, but everything goes up unfortunately. I also hear that this beer is aged in used Van Winkle barrels which as you know is the most difficult and sought after bourbon in the world.

I thought Peruvian Morning tasted similar. Also oddly, normal Peche Mortel too, although it's not barrel aged.

Xantus, speedway stout, oak aged Yeti, BCBCS, and some other brews mentioned above are great but they don't resemble KBS, imho.

Thank you. Gonna be a rough one though. She's gonna need open heart surgery almost immediately. Gonna be meeting a lot of doctors over the next few months. But, we're confident everything will work out and that she'll be a healthy girl with a story to tell people.
Haha, we're gonna earn those brews, for sure.

Ah yah, DDC BA Péché Mortel is super tasty! It has those same great dark roasted coffee notes that are so fantastic in KBS.

Good luck bro hopefully everything works out. Beer is one thing but most important is a healthy family. When the dust settles, that beer will taste that much better.

Best of all, you are maintaining a positive attitude for an incredibly stressful situation and you're to be commended. Also, being a dad and not experiencing your particular situation, I can only imagine what you and your wife are experiencing right now. Cyber support for your little girl!

Thanks dude. I'm either in denial that this is really happening or it just hasn't hit me yet. We've miscarried once before so we've been down the depressing road before, and I know a lot, a ton, of other people have it worse than us and hear worse news. I'm sure once we get to the end of July, I won't be this calm about it, haha.
We've been told the chances or survival and her chances of a normal life are like 98-99% good, so we can only do one thing: trust what we've read and heard. My wife gets emotional sometimes and my daughter knows her soon-to-be younger sister has a "boo-boo heart" so I have to be the rock to lean on. haha, I better be, I'm not the one actually giving birth.

Thanks for the well wishes, guys.
