Brooklyn Brewery's Brewmaster Garrett Oliver has just won the James Beard Award for "Outstanding Wine, Beer, or Spirits Professional." Congrats!!! http://eater.com/archives/2014/05/05/winners-2014-james-beard-restaurant-and-chef-awards.php
Seriously! Quite an honor, and a really nice guy. Used to post here occasionally, sharing his insight on intelligent discussions on brewing and such (maybe he still does). Congrats Garrett!
This would have been unthinkable in the not too distant past. Beer may not have the reputation of wine amongst the general population, but it does get serious respect within foodie circles now.
... and Brooklyn makes their Spotted Pig Bitter. Plus, The Bar at the NoMad Hotel won best bar program... and Brooklyn makes their NoMad le Poulet. That's four birds with two stones for all the Beardists out there.
one of the nicest people in beer, and that's saying a lot bc beer people are awesome...Huge congrats...
