Sounds like Bois Fume, heavier on the Smoking Wood (based on the ABV being lower), with vanilla beans and cacao nibs. I'd probably try a bottle if they offer it to HS/RS, but they'll probably take a whole lot of shit for offering yet another Smoking Wood/Anniversary blend. Then again, they'll probably get complaints if HS/RS members don't get a crack at it and it's exclusive to the Rare Beer Club, so...yeah...good luck with that.

Still not a surprise that they have spare barrels of Bourbon Anniversary. From a post of mine in the original 2014 Allocation thread:
What might seem like overproduction is an intentional strategy to have certain components around whenever they want them, specifically for projects like this. Granted, when these blends aren't desired by their target audience, it becomes overproduction, but that's somewhat of a semantics discussion.

I would assume (hope?) that they will adjust their future barreling strategy around demand and perhaps keep less around so as to not feel like they need to release blends like Smooth Criminal and Bois Fume to recoup costs, but based on how long these beers spends in barrels, it can take a year or so to see a genuine shift in what they're keeping around without just dumping a bunch of beer down the drain. Adjusting to demand on beers that are barrel aged for 6 - 12 months is a much slower process than adjusting to demand on beers that spend two weeks in a tank and go out the door.

This is my first year as an RS member. Was just wondering what are the odds of the older Anniversary beers showing up for sale? I had read that they would probably release a few when Sucre was released but haven't seen any announcements. Are these released without e-mail/announcement and I just have to be lucky enough to see them on the site randomly? Thanks for any clarity...

They released some during the Anniversary sale last month, but that's only in-person at the brewery, not through the RS. They've never released past anniversary beers as RS allocations.

They're very likely all gone by now. Some Cuir was released on May 28, but it was only tten cases...I guess there's a very small chance there's some left, but you probably want to call before you ask your trustee to do anything.

Fairly certain there's no Cuir left.

There was only some New American Oak Bois the last time I was in, and I can't imagine that will stay up much longer.

Anybody has any unwanted/bought-too-many Tawny Port Sucre bottles?

I had it yesterday. Nothing special in my opinion, not worth bothering.

I have, it smells like a rich dark chocolate brownie. Taste wise, definitely has a bakers cocoa like bitterness that rounds out the malts in the dubbel with a nice amount of vanilla. I didn't think I would, but I actually really liked it.

I picked up 5 cases full of old allocations yesterday including the cellar sale of Beauregarde, SitR Kumquats, and Oude Tart Cherries but my cat bit me all the way through my hand on Monday so I can't drink alcohol for another 8 days because of the antibiotics I'm on.

    Fuck, this is torture.

If anyone ever gets bit by a cat be sure to get it checked out. That can get infected real quick because of the dirtiness of the cat's mouth and how sharp the teeth are.

Greg, if you feel any of that is now going to go bad because of the 8 day wait I will be happy to take it off your hands
