I second Mekong as a must stop for dinner in Richmond. Especially if you like Vietnamese food. Even more especially if you like 55 (+?) taps of awesome beer.

 

I'm confident you are. I might be biased as my wife shares your profession, but I choose to see it as "informed" rather than "biased".

 

Working on getting into the profession now that I'm finishing up with grad. school, but it seems like a postdoc is basically necessary for 4-year schools or universities, and I'd probably go insane if I tried to teach at any level below community college.

 

I used to teach high school but now I'm an environmental consultant. I miss teaching a lot (and summers off) but man is it nice to get paid well and be appreciated for a change...

 

A little Chicago love from yesterday:

 

Ummm...sort of depends. If you go through on a Tuesday, they'll have their random tap-only beer on draft. This week's is gummy apple gose. There's been some really cool ones come through, and some not so great ones. Hard to know what will be on draft, but they brewery is pretty cool. Honestly though, if you're passing through Charleston, you should hit Edmunds Oast for dinner. They've had BASC, Bo & Luke Peanut Butter, several Loons, Rummy Old Time, Black Note, Gose Gone Wild, and other hard to finds on the menu in the past few months. And great food. And cool place. And stuff. And things. (I think I just attempted to use the lexicon...infiltration has begun)

As for BAMC release, I highly doubt it will be on a tuesday and it will definitely be a shitshow. I would guess Saturday the 12th, with release beginning at 10:00AM. Likely to be folks there by 6:00 AM, unless they allow camping.

Got a sweet LIF box from @Kwaide yesterday. Unfortunately I had to rush to go to a crazy bottle share and passed out as soon as I got home, so the pron has to wait for tonight. All arrived safe and I was very happy with the box, time to re-pack it and send it out to @Steve_Oldrati for the Misfits LIF win!

Avenue Pub in New Orleans, they tend to get some good stuff. I think there is a secret handshake though to get Loons.

 

I'll jump in again to say dinner at Mekong is a must. I've personally never been, but I've heard it's fantastic. I've also heard if Mekong knows you're uber into beer they'll take of you even more. I'll let the locals jump in, but I've also heard of folks taking a bottle as a gift and being rewarded handsomly.

 

I take back my effort to get there, I'll be at the Phillies game with my dad for Father's day, I completely forgot that Father's day was here already. I might suggest that we go there afterward, we went together a couple weeks ago and he enjoyed it, but that won't be until 5-ish.

 

Yeah, and I sure didn't know it. Apparently I was two days late or not late enough at night...
