I feel ya man. Last Tuesday I finished 17 consecutive days of no alcohol as I was on Zyvox (an antibiotic too). I hit my cellar like an effin wrecking ball as soon as I could. Hang in there.

It's possible, but they didn't barrel up very much Mrs Stoutfire so I would be surprised if they used it for a blend rather than keeping all of it for special kegs.

I'm just hoping they really aren't testing new creative ways to move all their stagnant Smoking Wood.

Per Bruery on Facebook, all BA Stoutfire went into kegs and it wasn't much.

Seems like this is the plan!

As much as I stand by my comments about adjusting barrel inventory being a slow process...this beer has been so divisive since its first release, it's an odd decision to increase its usage and visibility, especially since they now have roughly 2.5 years of feedback to work with. I actually like the beer (not in love with it, but it doesn't turn me off the way it does others), but hopefully S.H.I.T. can take its place as the 10 - 12% ABV stout/porter blend component for some of these projects.

for new releases the Bruery should ask for feedback because here's how I think things go:

First year: sells out like wildfire because it's new
Second year: people who liked it scoop up all they can, people who weren't a fan may buy a couple or may only buy one and new members probably max out their allocation.
Third year: this beer is now established enough that the people in love with it will buy all they can, some will buy none and others will pick up a couple.

Barrel yields and batch sizes should be down to a science for them so after year one they should seek feedback to see how many people plan on maxing out their allocation, how many people will buy none and how many people may only buy a few. this would only be a representative sample so even adding some beer to account for the margin of error should put them where they need to be to not have inventory laying around for a couple years. Smoking wood doesn't even move fast in cellar sales so that should be an indication that this beer is not as popular as any of their other offerings and the space it takes up in fermenters and barrels needs to be adjusted.

In other news I drank my first bottle of FDR and it tasted like bubblegum and rum.

I'm a bit shocked they don't do something like this at the end of the year already. I know the surveys always have a general comments section, but it would be smart if Bruery started to ask for something like "Beer you want to see more variants of" and "beer you want to see less variants of / used in less blends". As the survey only goes to RS/HS members it would be a useful tool for them to crunch the numbers and adjust accordingly.

Hell, I'd give opinions about every RS/HS exclusive beer if they provided me with the option.

So I'm glad I read up on metronidazole the other night and it appears it's definitely one of antibiotics you shouldn't drink alcohol with:

"These drugs block one of the major pathways that metabolise alcohol and cause a rapid build up of nasties called acetaldehydes"

I had a few handfuls of people by for coffee this morning and wanted to share some Rue d'Floyd with the beer drinkers so I opened a bottle, took a taste because I haven't had it yet, and spit. The first time in my life I've spit beer out.

Holy shit, there's a lot of cherry to it. I'll open another as soon as I can for a more in depth tasting ahahahaha.

One guy called out pomegranate syrup without me telling him anything that was in the beer.

Surprisingly I didn't notice a strong hit of tequila. You could smell it but the scent wasn't overpowering at all.

I can't say I liked Agave Maria though so I would not be able to compare.

Had a taste of Sucre Tawny Port the other night (The Rare Barrel had a keg on), and it was delicious. Not sad I decided to order two each of the variants (not including New American Oak, which I'm thinking of skipping as that Bois variant was my least favorite last year). Looking forward to the Tequila, Cognac, and Brandy variants also.

Current allocations not available for sale on website with today (June 20) being the last day to purchase.

This has happened before, though, hasn't it?

Sans Pagaie seems to be the only beer from this month's allocations that is no longer present in the store currently.

I definitely agree. Sad to hear about another quality issue, but you guys (Bruery) are making an example of how to handle those situations!
