To show a sense of value and make sure that it's completely clear to members that they are in fact getting a discount.

It's the JC Penney sales model. Raise the price 50% on your stock one week, then, a week later have a 25% off on everything sale. Everyone is a winner!

Hops and Pie had a picture of Lbrett Grand Cru on their Facebook page and said they had it for sale so I wouldn't speak in absolutes about Cellar Reserve only beers. Also I'm not sure if Oculus was Cellar reserve or not but Falling Rock was selling bottles of it up until a couple days ago.

    Persica blend #1 update:

No diacetyl, dry and slightly funky. Peach aroma faint. FYI not the best CS but so enjoyable.

Falling Rock falls into a grey area and I'm not sure Hops and Pie doesn't either (although they never responded to my question on their FB page). Falling Rock had a couple memberships so they sell the bottles that they get for their membership in their cellar list

Does anybody know what style the Cellar Reserve glassware is this year?

Super stoked on the growler/ water bottle! I was not impressed with L'brett d cherry but both of the origins were delicious.

Ocvlvs was not members only when it came out.

I was most looking forward to this one as well. Perhaps the limited quantities of this one lead me to believe it was more rare and therefore more delicious. I'll also echo the earlier thoughts on why it was disappointing, but I also felt like it failed to highlight the fruit as well as the other reserve beers did. Ultimately it was good, not great.

I actually found the L'Brett d'Cherry quite good, though not at all what I've come to expect from L'Brett d'Or as a base beer. The cherry nose is fantastic - reminiscent of Belgian lambic. The body was much lighter than I expected, and I felt like the beer finished too dry, so there wasn't much to balance the tartness. It drinks very one-dimensional, but it is a lovely light sour beer. Just not especially engaging for a special release. That beer with a little more residual sugar for body and roundness, though, would make a world of difference.

Agree with Josh 100%. I love cherries in beer and thought L'Brett d'Cherry had a fantastic cherry character. Reminded me of LPK and JK MvB. Don't get me wrong though, those are my two favorite beers with cherries in them and LBC comes nowhere close. Loved the Cherry character in it, but it didn't have anything else going for it and that caused it to be far from special [rated it a somewhat solid 4.25, compared to a 5 (which is very rare for me to give) for the other 2 beers I mentioned, for reference].

I've got a 750ml bottle of Surette Reserva (looks just like in this picture):

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between this and normal Surette besides the fact that CS doesn't do 750ml bottles anymore?

That one is the barrels that Chad thought were the best from the original batch of Surette

Gotcha! Any idea approximately when that was bottled and released?

...and as a result, is much tastier.

Was that 750 from the Funkwerks days? It sat on shelves here and I don't remember ever buying more than one of these if it helps. Age may have done it a favor......

Yeah, I think that was a Funkwerks-era bottle. I *think* it's one of the framed labels on the wall in the barrel cellar and that's been there since they opened. Either that or I'm just imagining shit again.

Original Surette was late 2011/early 2012 I believe, so I would guess around summer of 2012 for the Reserva

IMO, the original Surette (750ml orange label) is the best non-WWB standard release CS has done (WWBO and V were better), and was better than the Reserva. The Reserva was just a bit undercarbed for my liking

When does the 2015 release happen, or did it already? What is or was the cost, and is it hard to get into a trustee? I have a Bruery Reserve membership....perhaps someone might be interested in trading?
