And now that we're down to the last three, let's start preparing for the BiaB Round 2.

I know we've discussed various changes to the rules but ultimately, I think I'd prefer to keep them simple but add a little bit more to compensate for shipping costs.

    Here's the rules:

    1. 12 bottle shipper, no style guidelines, no minimum BA score (SWTFYW). Just keep in mind the glorious Beer Karma god.
    2. 2 12oz cans count as one bottle. A 16oz can counts as one bottle.
    3. Participants may take up to 6 uncovered bottles of their choosing.
    4. Six bottles will be mystery bottles and wrapped in paper bags/opaque material so as not to reveal their contents (again, no minimum BA score, it's a mystery). They will be labeled 1 - 6 so we can keep track of how long they are in the box. Participants choose up to an additional 4 covered mystery bottles. We're going with honesty here so please don't try to sneak a peek at all 6.
    5. Replace what you take from the 12 shipper. Ensure that any covered bottles you take are replaced with covered bottles and labeled with the number you took (e.g. if you take mystery bottle labeled 6, replace it with a bottle that you cover and label it with a 6).
    6. If you're a participant, it's highly encouraged that you stay active throughout the lifetime of this round. Active means about a post a week or so. We tend to be skittish when folks all of a sudden bounce with no trace.
    7. Ship outside of your state (unless
    8. If a bottle has 3 or more stops on it, it may be taken as an 11th bottle.
    9. When you open the box, a target list should be included. Select a target and make sure you cross him/her off the list so as to avoid confusion/double shipping.
    10. Do your best to ship within about a week after you receive the box. If you get held up, just shoot me a BM.

That's the rules. Now here's just some helpful hints/guidelines based on past experience:

    1. Do your research. There was talk of making the box adhere to style guidelines and while it's a good idea, there are loads of folks that do not prefer certain styles so they would have gotten the short end of the stick when it comes to what they could take. With that said, we're going with a 'anything goes approach' like last time. So, when choosing your target, research their wants/hads/gots. Make sure what you're sending is something that they'd like or a style they might enjoy.
    2. Extras and Tits are allowed. Try your best to replace what you take for extras and tits but don't feel guilty if you can't. This is not a one-upper game. It's the thought that counts.
    3. If you plan on sending IPAs, make sure that the next target is going to enjoy it or else it could take quite some time and may not age well.
    4. Make sure you put the target list back in the box when shipping.
    5. When you get the box, if it is in very poor shape, please do your best to replace it with a new one.
    6. If something comes up during this round (e.g. vacation, out of town, etc.) let me or the group know so the box doesn't get shipped to you.

    Sign Ups:

    1. For the OG, if you want in, just send me a BM telling me as much. If you have moved since the beginning of the original BiaB, please just ensure that you provide me with your updated address so I know it is correct.
    2. For the NG, send me a BM with your name, address, phone number, shirt size.
    3. For both OG and NG, please let me know in your BM if you would be willing to be an initial sender. I will randomly pick someone if it is needed.
    4. On average, shipping has been costing around $40 (shipping to/from Alaska is around $150). The box on average weighs 50lbs. Keep this in mind when signing up.
    5. I'll take signups up until the day I get the original box back (likely in about 2 - 3 weeks).

    Possible Changes to Rules:

    1. There will be no limit to max participants. If we get over 30 people for the round, then we'll have two boxes traveling at the same time. If that's the case, I'll split up the participants evenly per box and will manage the master target list.

That's about it. Definitely looking forward to Round 2.

I probably shouldn't have quoted your post because I wasn't targeting just your post. I was just saying in general, I hate to see people feel guilty for thinking their box underachieves.

The box in question only has 4 beers. I have not under achieved. Pissing contests sound messy.

Not loving this twist, but maybe because I'm not much of a gambler.

Well, it's not really too much of a twist. You still get to choose 6 bottles like last time. But now you get an additional 4 on top. Only twist is you don't know what those 4 will be til you open them. So really, it's just more beer.

yes, but last time you got to choose 6 bottles from 12. This time you essentially have no choice unless you want to gamble with the mystery bottles. Like I said I'm just not much of a gambler, so it's not a twist that I like. I'm sure I'm in the minority and it's not going to stop me from participating
