A below average night of drinking, by my standards.

Long week, long day, and a late start but this is tasting great right now:

That stuff is fantabulous, I try to snag at least two cases of that stuff every year!!!

 

Really solid pils. Taste of lemon, pear, apple, cracker, bread, light honey, herbal, straw, grass, and yeast earthiness. Very crisp and clean finish and mouthfeel. A bit bland on character, but not watery.


Good Coffee stout. Taste of roasted coffee, chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, toast, dark bread, and roasted earthiness. Well balanced coffee/malt flavors; good robustness. Lacks malt complexity I expect in a stout, but otherwise nicely enjoyable.


Very nice saison. Taste of lemon, pear, apple, light banana, pepper, clove, herbal, straw, grass, cracker, bread, light honey, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Very crisp and drinkable for 8.5%. Well balanced yeast character, spice, and bright malt notes. Really delicious.


Great DIPA. Juicy tangerine, orange peel, lemon zest, pineapple, peach, papaya, apricot, and mango with moderate light caramel/bready malt sweetness. Balanced bitterness and smooth for the ABV. All about juicy hop flavors.

You're right, I'm sure it's a combination of both. I completely agree…last year was a letdown from it's first year, but this year has definitely made up for that.

 

Jeepers. I guess it's a good thing that it holds up pretty well, which is what I'm really hoping for in the end. I don't suppose you could go through all that in a month?

Velvet Merlin - Its magic was not powerful enough to open my eyes to oatmeal stouts.

 

Plowin through this Crooked Tree mixed 12 pack. Good thing the boss is on vacation tomorrow. That's the good stuff. Malt bill on Crooked Tree is so delicious. Tigers are rolling too. Killin the Royals.

 

Better than dying beer, I guess.
