I just had to Google to see if he is still alive. How and the hell is he still around? Must have been all that touchy feely with the Barker Beauties.

 

Finally nabbed some. Def lives up to the reviews. I need this distro'd in Pa.

 

I don't know....I picked this up in Utah. I think it makes a huge difference what state you get this from because I didn't like it. But I expect this to be Utah's fault, not Deschutes.

 

Sorry for the bad quality. Just cracked this Pliny that was shipped today. Bottling date was 7/8/14, so this was some very fresh, very delicious beer that I will be enjoying tonight!

 

Did you buy it warm? I bought some ~2wk old warm, and I didn't find it very aromatic at all. I still enjoyed it, but never could have guessed citra and mosaic (two pretty pricy hops) were used. It drank very resiny and piney, like many "old school" IPA's that have nowhere near the dry-hop of most IPAs today.

big apartment clean. late night relaxing with some bach and smuttynose julio's fashionably old ale. love the oak in this beer, such a major player. the orange peel is weird, almost too much... but it's creative, and really, give me well done barrel aging like this in a malty, expertly crafted mouthfeel-wise beer, and i'll tolerate any and all adjunct weirdness.

 

yeah, this is my problem with craft beer buying nowadays. sure, there's all that shelf-space, but much more limited fridge space. i know i know, that refrigerated IPA could have spent a day or two on a hot warehouse floor. fine, but at least let me roll the dice with store refrigerated product. i won't even buy IPAs if they're sitting at room temp anymore.

 

This is still tasting better than when it was fresh.

 

Saw this at Whole Foods in Santa Monica today. LOVE the fact that it's here now. Big fan of this beer.

Quick update: you might be insane and think that chocolate covered raisins wouldnt go well with an orange peel heavy thick malty oaky old ale. If that is somehow the case, allow me to assure you: they go AMAZING together. It's times like this i wish i smoked weed.
