    End times

I've liked a couple of the the GK beers they did for the 'spoons fests

Likewise with Marston's on cask and specially brewed they make some solid beers

there isn't many big brewers that do good bottled beer
and the other two in the same GK range as the Suffolk Strong are best left on the shop shelf

It’s a classic and there are very few beers of its type left. Nothing to be ashamed of. Greene King can make good beer when they want to.

    Yeah definitely

Now having a chimay blue, picked both up at tesco

still remains my least favourite of the belgian trappiste beers that I've tried, I probably preferred the GK

They've expanded their belgian offerings quite a lot, there's a couple new leffe ones - the ruby and another, also Affligem triple and St stefanus blonde

Not exactly earth shattering but a definite improvement

Been looking in my local big T for the Affligem since first mentioned by Zimbo

funny how I would ALWAYS grab a Duvell for the last bottle of the night
    then moved on to Chimay
and now having sampled more of what Belgium has to offer find them a bit dull

Though I did grab a bottle of the Leffe Ruby
so it is a genuine original brew then not just some gimmicky thing for the UK supermarket shelves?

There's a bunch of other Leffe beers we don't normally get here so I assume they are just part of the wider brand

Now onto Adnams Innovation IPA - very nice beer, well put together and brewed, probably not as in your face as some people like but it's good imo

Adnams are one of my favourite english regionals I think, they combine new with the old as good as anyone

Exactly the same here after my Belgium trip. They just aren't the same after trying the others

I assume that's got simcoe and citra in it?

Adnams are definitely my favourite regional. Their innovation IPA is such a great beer.

And yes! Citra and Simcoe  not as fruity as you'd think though!

Although now I'm halfway through it it's lacking bitterness. BBE of 09/15 so I assume it's an 18 month bbe, fuck trying this in a years time

    Still good though

Got a jackhammer to end the night on, if that's lacking bitterness I'm writing a complaint to the portman group

    Dear Portman Group,

Jackhammer has little to no bitterness, despite claiming otherwise

It tastes nice though, all round excellent imo. but it was bottled only 6 weeks ago, so should be more bitter

I can't imagine brewpups have caved into the desire for 18 month bbe dates, or have they?

I'm not a big fan of fruit beer & this Felle Ruby hasn't won me over
it's not bad & at least it doesn't taste of artificial sweeteners
a liitle too sweet but there is some beer taste in there, just

What? No bitterness? There's something missing there.

I'm going to get more, it was very nice and I'm fairly sure I've had it before and it was well bitter

perhaps my bitter taste buds were off

I'm impressed that Affligem Tripel has appeared in Tesco. The last tripel I saw in a supermarket was Tripel Karmeliet a few years ago, and before that, Leffe Tripel. I used to find Chimay Bleue a bit watery, not that interesting, but now I think it's a great beer, subtle and very well made. I bought many bottles when I saw it was 99p last year. I think it's a fantastic, understated beer...

All I have left is this wee bottle of Stallion Stout
but little beer is better than none
