Believe me, it has dried up and is staying in the Charlotte Metro area.

This is just my opinion, but I prefer living in Raleigh where there are a ton of bottle shops in my area over a bigger brewery scene. One store may be out of the beer I was hoping to get, but I can guarantee I'll find it at one of the other multiple shops around town. Not to mention, a lot of wine shops in this area are hidden gems for finding good beer. They typically have a small selection, but sometimes will get stuff in that nobody would suspect they should. In fact, I won't mention the name of the shop (It's my little hidden gem), but everyone sold out of BCBS and BCBCS in one hour last year, this wine shop I stopped in at gave me 1 4-pack each of BCBS and BCBCS they he randomally got in. It's great having these kind of backups in Raleigh!

I wouldn't take anything you say personally. I stated my opinion and you wasted your time telling me people don't agree with me. I then let you know I don't give a shit. Thanks.

As someone from NC, natty greens regular line up is bland and average at best. Recently moved out of market but I cannot imagine their sours rivaling WW. WW sours rival all of americas sours (bruery, RR, etc.) Granted I haven't tried them, just having a hard time believing since their regular line up isn't very good.

That's one thing I'm surprised about Asheville is there isn't that many bottle shops. There's two good ones and another ok one I can think of but they're not that big. Well, Appalachian Vintner is big with a nice selection but you can't break 4/6 which I prefer to do when I go beer shopping. Bruisin' Ales is great for Belgian and other imports but I think could have a little better American craft selection. It's certainly not a terrible selection but I think they could do a bit better.

I spoke with a guy at BottleMixx a week or so ago, and he mentioned that they most HDnR he could buy from NoDa was 2 cases...and they had to make the drive to pick it up. Just not worth the trip for them.

They actually can brew very good beer and have them on tap regularly at the brew pub and at The Bunker at the production brewery. You would be pleasantly surprised. I think their core beers are intended to be "gateway" beers, and it seems to be working well.

That sounds correct. Maybe OK for an individual, but not for a business.

I've never had a Natty Greene's beer that I thought was good at all, but I've also never had any of their sours. I've never seen a sour on tap when I've been there, although I don't go there often.

As for Wicked Weed's sours, their good ones are really good, but some of them kinda suck. I feel like they're starting to spread themselves a little thin by making so many different ones all the time. I love Oblivion, Genesis, and Black Angel though.

Going to School in Boone has been a great influence on my beer tastes. After living in the eastern part of the state for most of my life, I was amazed at the great variety of great beer available.

Agreed. I would say that your comments apply to the Triangle in general.

I agree with you (in particular about their normal line up which is drinkable but not outstanding), and that is was one of the biggest surprises at the Beers for Prostate event in Asheville, which was a sour beer event. I enjoyed some great sours from across the country, and those Natty Green Sours held up well against some of the best in the land. Not THE best, but represented real well.

I have never been to Natty Green's main brewery so I don't know what they tap and what they don't and when they tap what. Would be interesting to hear if they're planning to do Sour's on a wider scale, not that Wicked Weed's distro is real wide.

    Bro - that's goofy talk.

Olde Hickory: (the best brewery in the state IMO)

    The Event Horizon: BA97
    Lindley Park: BA96
    Blendiculous 1: BA98
    Imperial Dominance: BA92
    Imperial Stout: BA92
Irish Walker: GABF bronze, Bros give it a 94

Newer spots killing it on the level of Wicked Weed (in terms of quality): Trophy & Fonta Flora.

Oh yeah - forgot to mention that Event & Lindley will easily trade for just about any beers brewed - I've done it. A buddy just swapped Blendi1 (one of the best English barley wines ever made (see BA)) straight up for a King Henry.

You must have missed where I said death by hops was solid...other than that, yeah I'm goofy because I don't enjoy drinking stouts all day like apparently you do.

My dad just pulled into Winston Salem for a few days. What store is best for him to walk in and have someone set him up with a nice haul to bring back to Chicago?

Just out of curiosity, what else do you feel they should be carrying that is available in WNC and not available in every grocery store?
