Can you give an example? I don't think you understand how the system works. Brewer->Importer>Distributor->Retailer.
Obviously, if there is no importer - paying Customs/Warehousing/Shipping out to Distributors, the price would drop.
Any further explanation, feel free to message.

Seems like a classic mislabel error by the retailer. Cost, to a distributor, in the US, is 14$ a bottle.
It costs more than 10.99$ a bottle AT Drie Fonteinen's retail shop....

Yep. It turns out the guy didn't know what he was doing (and obviously, I didn't know what price to expect). The real price is $24.99. I scored but I feel a little bit bad about it.

I bought a bottle in France for about $15 usd. It's $22 here in San Diego. Probably one of my favorite beers

I agree with the answer someone gave - Shelton beers are more sought after. But that's only half the answer - the Shelton Brothers have taken actions that some view as unfriendly towards the beer geek community. I suspect this negative perception by some helps fuel the complaining. (Whether or not you agree with that qualification of their actions is a different issue, but there's no doubt the perception is there.)

Just had one of these for $25 after a $28 750 Cantillon at Mule Bar in Winooski. Both were worth it. It's $21 retail here in VT.

I held off on buying one of these for a long time. Finally tried it when my brother brought one to share. This beer is spectacular and in the class of the Armand seasons IMO. If you're tempted, go for it.

Just picked up a bottle for $6.50! Mistakenly priced as Boon Oude Gueuze!

A better question that should be asked is when did Three Floyd's start making gueuze.

I don't know about $26 per bottle. I bought mine at HF, and it was the best Gueuze I've yet had (including one round of Cantillon). So would I buy one bottle at $26? Absolutely. Multiple? It's tough to convince me to spend that much on multiple bottles of any beer.

Such a good beer and I'm salivating thinking about it. That said I will not be paying $24.99 for it again

Is it truly head and shoulders above the Cuvee Rene Gueuze? It is the gueuze that all others are compared to for me.

I just had one the other day. It was actually a bit more mellow and less sour than it was a couple of years ago. Still has that amazing finish that goes on for days.
