Pawn Stars is the only show on History Channel I can stand to watch when they aren't doing one of their scripted and unfunny irrelevant skits. Obviously the whole show is scripted, but it's INTERESTAINING when stuff is being sold. You actually learn some things.

Dark Horse Nation (at least based on the first two episodes) is just lame.

Yeah I didn't like it. I guess I'll just be happy with brew dogs (IDC what people think, that show is great.)

Have only watched the first four episodes so far and I keep waiting for it to get better. Not really sure what I was expecting based on other shows on History (isn't it time they 're-branded' this network?) but, so far, it's a big 'meh'.

On my work trip in Michigan this week I stopped by and had lunch at DH. They were missing 3 beers in the tap room and I asked what the deal was and that server said the show is so popular that beer sales were through the roof and they had to bottle what they were making to satisfy the public. She specifically said Meijer was complaining about their shelves being empty. So it is taking a toll on what they can offer at the taproom....for now. Also, the taproom was packed on a weekday at lunch and the server told me they had to call in extra help.

FWIW, I like the show. You get a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes. I wish beer was the major focus of the show though. Dogfish did a better job at this.

I watched the recent episode about the parade float. I believe I saw one of them drinking a Strohs when they are in a dinner talking about the float. The episode about the Bacon Brew was interesting.

I enjoyed the 4Elf party episode, had to flip through it and pause to find myself looking cold and drunk in line; "Look mom, I'm on TV, I'm famous!" :grinning:

To a certain extent, I agree with you. The average person flipping through channels doesn't care about beer but if you take a look at some of the most successful reality shows around right now, they seem to be heavily geared towards the business the shows take place in. For example, Pawn Stars is very focused on things that take place in the pawn shop. Gold Rush, another extremely successful show, is very centered around gold mining. Of course, these shows also have drama and hijinks but they still manage to be quite interesting... really now... go kart racing is just .. I don't know.. dull?

I'm not saying that the show has to be focused on brewing but something a little more focused on the brewery would be nice.

I want to cry... I take it all back:slight_smile: It's obviously providing the best outcome ever for the taproom. BBPT5...really?? Lucky you.

They focus a ton on the brewery itself...People here seem to want the show to focus on the brewing process, and that is not what normal tv watchers care about...
