So I'm transiting through Portland in a week and have the very dangerous combination of a rental car while I'm there and a flight home. Previous experience has shown that I will probably need to ship quite a few bottles home. Can anyone suggest a good source for 6 & 12 bottle styro-shippers in Portland? Bonus points for Richmond/Buckman but I will have a car. Alternately, anyone want to trade packing/shipping services for a DeGarde mule?
Great Wine Buys at Broadway and NE 15th is where I usually get mine. $8 for a six bottle shipper and box. Haven't bought a 12 yet but I know they have them available.
Portland Wine Storage and Rose City Wine Storage are also possibilities, but it sounds like Great Wine Buys might have better prices.
Don't know if Great Wine buys is too far out, but they were great. Had 1, 3, 6 & 12 in stock. Didn't exactly open on time but whatever. Give 'em an extra 20min in the morning. Thanks @TomTown
I was hoping for something closer, but that might be my best bet. Dumb question, but if I fill up a 12 bottle shopper with 750s, will that be under weight and able to be checked for my flight back to boston?
Yep. If you're Flying Alaska make sure you say it's wine. http://www.oregonwine.org/regions/oregon-experience/oregon-wines-fly-free.aspx
Great Wine Buys closes at 5 on Sunday, so I ended up getting them at http://www.vinopoliswineshop.com/. And for anyone flying Alaska, the "wine flies free" promo requires some sort of sticker from the winery, although that is not mentioned anywhere on the Alaska website. But the most important thing is my two cases of beer (including 14 bottles from Cascade!) made it home safely.
