    ah. good feedback. couple things

    - the 'overflow' is actually a result of 'capping on foam' which is different than 'break out'. if there is some beer down the side of the bottle that is probably a little more foam during capping than normal but not 'break out' because 'break out' bottles wouldn't be suitable for packaging and would be low fills. (break out is when the pressure difference is so much that the beer basically shoots out of the bottle once the filler wand is retracted)
    - capping on foam is the most common bottling practice for packing beer, essentially the foam will push any remaining oxygen out of the bottle and once the foam reaches the top of the container it is sealed with a crown. if the foam is peaking a bit over the top of the bottle some will obviously come down the side of the bottle.
    - we're using paper laminated labels at the moment that don't do the best job of getting wet... we will be upgrading the labels next year once we're canning and the new facility is going. the upgraded labels will be much more water resistant and then we can turn on the sprayer/rinser on the Meheen (our bottler) and we can properly rinse off bottles that have some over flow on them. we haven't upgraded the labels now because it would be a difference in the year of about $25,000 and we figured that $25,000 could be reinvested in the brewery in other more helpful ways right now (like purchasing the meheen or deposits on equipment for the production facility). once we've really gotten over the major humps and build out next year we will absolutely then upgrade the labels on 22's to something more moisture resistant. since we have to choose at the moment we'd rather put the money in the beer than the packaging. [ps have you seen Drew's metallic labels? those are amazing... we'd love to do something like that.]

at Half Acre they would have a guy at the packaging table with a damp cloth and would wipe off any bottles with some over flow. I'll send a note to our packaging team right now and ask them to do a better job on that.

the trick here is that there are quite a few double batches. when the bottles where hand labeled, it had a single batch number. the printed batch numbers show a double batch number if it's a double batch. you'd have to buy 2 bottles of those double batches to hit the numbers you are talking about.

EDIT: could of quadruple batches in there.

I don't think it was overpowering. The CTA I had a few weeks back was way more dominating that the PTA (haha) I had last night. I actually like the PTA quite a bit. Thought it was pretty balanced.

I thought passion abduction was sublime, it had to restrain myself because it didn't drink like a 10.5% beer. Probably one of my favorite abductions to date.

agreed. the passion fruit lent a tartness that was very pleasing while not overpowering the flavor of the base beer. an excellent effort for sure.

I wonder if my experience could be chalked up to bottle variation. All I got from this beer was passionfruit - no vanilla, no chocolate, just fruit (wife also agreed). A blending issue maybe? However, I also just noticed that the scoring system on here has it tied with Mint for lowest rated in the Abduction series.

I'm pushing 60 myself and BA Last Kiss is also a huge ISO for me. Have a couple BA Jones Dog if a BA LK owner is interested in an IP trade.

BA Jones dog was awesome. And yeah I have about 3 more and missed out on BA Last Kiss too. Was that one better or was I just lucky enough to pick up Jones Dog

All three were fantastic IMHO, but BA Last Kiss and Murderous were both far less available than the Jones Dog, plus there were two separate batches of Jones Dog released to date. I only saw LK and Murderous in select stores in the city.

I didnt even realize it had Vanilla and Cocoa until the bottle was half gone, so you are probably right. The passion fruit was what I bought it for and in that arena it did not dissappoint. I guess it just depends on what you were looking for, Vanilla may have helped with the base a bit but it was not pronounced at all. FWIW

Vanilla is generally used to improve mouthfeel. At least most of the time. I know certain beers highlight it as an ingredient but rarely does it play 1st fiddle

the first round of ba beers went primarily to FWBs. maybe cuz they were FoBAB left overs (PW served the same trio at last year's FoBAB)? i thought there was some info around here about bottle counts.

Anyone else's Passion Abductions smell completely like bong water? Didn't seem to have any effect on the taste, just curious if I have a defective nose or I just got Pipework's version of the golden ticket...blowing bong rips into one bottle in every batch.

There is nothing wrong with bong water. It take the harshness out of the hit.

Just an FYI from the great taste - there could or maybe could not be a few barrels on there way of something or the other... It was amazing at the taste, don't worry the secret is safe with all of us... Now put it in a bottle and make all of us run all over the city buying it!!!?
