I really need to stop drinking so much, it's getting the better of me. I reviewed this beer (from bottle) in October 2012. But I think I'm going to blame my failure to recognize it on your misspelling of the word Seizoen.

Not to turn this into "What Fresh Hop Beer Are You Drinking Now" or anything, but I just opened my first one of these and it's durn good. I remember Old Schoolhouse being particularly good last year, but this one is right up there. Extremely juicy.

From my limited discussion with hop farmers, the gist I got was that a warm, wet spring was good, and "the more sun, the better" during the time from mid-May through mid-August when we get 15 or more hours of daylight every day. My recollection on exactly why is a bit fuzzy, but IIRC it triggers some chemical reaction in the plant that accelerates growth and flowering.

Beyond that, they're hoping for as little rain as possible during the last couple weeks prior to harvest in order to minimize the potential for rot.

A local blogger at the BBC in San Diego posted that Lagunitas will release Born Yesterday Fresh Hop Pale.

Are you open to collaborating with another local brewery who may not have made a fresh hop beer before to spread the knowledge, or another FH-skilled brewer around the region or nation (Double Mountain, Fremont, Surly, etc.)? From who/where did you learn your FH techniques, or was it all from your own experimentation?[/QUOTE]

I am very open to collaborating on these beers with brewers from outside the region. Lots of places get FH shipped in boxes, but I'd love to work with a brewer from another part of the country. Have them come and try some at one of our festivals, and collaborate the next harvest on one of these beers.

I have developed my methods of using FH over the nine years I have been brewing these types of beers and settled on something I think works well. Mostly since I started making the first batches of Fresh Hop Mac's Amber back in 2009, to the FH beers we produce at Laurelwood since 2011.

The Fresh Hop Fest in Portland down at Oak's Park had a Fresh Hopped Crux Mosiac - I think it was two years ago? It was maybe my favorite of the fest and my introduction to Crux.

It's rare enough that they brew the original Mosaic from opening, but I'm still hoping for a FH version too.

Yesterday I got to play my part in the local fresh hop culture; it was harvest time at Smith Rock Hop Farm in Terrebonne, OR which a friend has helped get up and running. This year was just 1 row each of Cascade and Centennial, about 50 plants total. They decided to leave the bines up this year, so we hand picked straight off the ropes rather than cutting them down. Many hands made light work, and everyone had a great time.

Paul from Wild Ride Brewing stopped by to provide refreshment and pick up the Cascades for a fresh hop beer brewing today at Worthy Brewing. Another picker reminded us that families used to take a working vacation in the hop fields, camping and picking, which doesn't seem like a horrible way to spend a week in late August. I've been helping a little throughout the growing season and following the progress closely, loving the opportunity to see this small business grow from the very beginning. Harvest was a lot of fun, but I already can't wait for next years cycle of setting more rows, planting more varieties, and watching the landscape transform from reds and browns to lush green.

My Chinooks are getting close. I'll probably donate them to Fremont again, if they're gonna do the community fresh hop like last year.

Looks like Deschutes Bend pub has Horse Ridge IPA on, and saw a picture of Old Town's Cent's and Censability in the twittersphere. Worthy and Wild Ride collaborated on a FH beer using Centennials and Cascades I helped pick on Sunday. I assume that was on their pilot system, since Worthy also posted a picture of a FH Meridian beer on their 30bbl system.

I have about 75 partial entries for beers, and I'm missing a lot of info. If you hear anything about a FH beer, I'd appreciate the help.

Speaking of Twitter, I saw the other day that Elysian was brewing a fresh hop beer called Kama Citra. So add that one to your list. That's all I know.

I was at Bale Breaker last night and they said they're brewing their fresh hop beer today. Hope some makes it back to Seattle!
