You are correct. They didn't give us an additional bottle this year for being members last year.

Well I guess we don't need a Crooked Stave 2015 Cellar Reserve thread

Seems like the right call to me

Can't say I'm surprised. Between two locations and special events, wtf etc, they've been pretty spread thin. Shame.

It's a major bummer. Hope we still get to see awesome experimental beers coming out from those guys.

I think they were just running out of different fruits to use in all of their sour variants....in a few years, the cellar reserve may have had stuff like, oh, i dunno... tomato origins, eggplant dark origins, and zucchini petite sour.... appetizing, eh?

    i keed, i keed...

Basically, someone needs to create the country club brewing company. Pay to get in, pay for your product, and the brewery is responsible only to the members.

Then I'll go drink with the plebeians.

I think this is a great call. It probably did wonders to help get them off the launch pad, but it's time to go to space.

My point is this, I can see what they mean about most of what the email said but I know from my stand point and prob from most of the standpoint of members I know or have met they could have kept the group but not promised certain beers and we still would have renewed. Sign up for less money and just have the ability to buy the beers they release first (2-4 each) and then the rest goes to distribution or taproom for sales. I had a trustee that did a great job and just know not having the ability to get CS in GA is the biggest hit for me. The change I don't care that much about but do like Upland does. They give us two weeks to pick up our barrel society beers. That's it. They don't let you store it for a year and then buy one plane ticket to pick it all up. As for the bank stuff then just use Paypal. Its a shame. I will still support CS anytime I come across them and I hope the special benefits we suppose to get in the future allow me to still get my hands on beers from them with my trustees help. I wish them luck and only the best.

I though the reserve society was a great idea for a new brewery that is making sours. Due to the amount of time they take to create, it seems like a very hard market to break into. Having to put up money for the ingredients and then wait 12-18 months to recoup your investment and profits has to be hard to plan for. The reserve society provided the cash up front an allowed them to create the beer to be sold at a later date. With the banks holding the funds until the beer was delivered, had to be a huge hit to their cash flow. Don’t get me wrong I hate that this is happening, but I understand. If they ever start a program back up, I hope we get first dibs on joining.

I guess I'll no longer feel special when I wear my Members Only jacket to the Barrel Cellar.
