Is it just me or is Insight trying to create a cult of personality around it's brewer? Seems like all I see are selfies of that person. Painting. Holding hops. Holding steel. Smiling at the camera. Creepy. I wonder if they are one of the new breed of breweries that think they will sell 4000+ bbls in the first year because, well, because.

And holy crap - what is the rent on that place? Has to be a cash sink

It might be that it is just you, but on the other hand, it would not be the first time; Craft Beer as a distinct segment of the industry is rife with similar such cases, but mostly they have developed after-the-fact.

And if he has deep pockets, so be it! He'll need 'em: Beer doesn't sell itself. :sunglasses:

When I first heard about Insight Brewery the guy told me that one of their investors is Fitgers, I cant confirm if it is true, but they must have fronted them a large sum.

Hate responding to my own comment, but I just saw this come across my twitter. New brewery opened up, cant get much info on it at all: http://www.pryesbrewing.com/

I cant figure out how to put tweets on here..

Don't quote me, no expert here, but I believe that brewery owners can not invest in other breweries? Not sure if that is correct or not.

I was told Pryes is a brewery that brews at Lucid and Badger Hill. They must be a contract brewery?

Arriving at an original name is tough in these days of Craft Beer Boom. With so many new outfits out there, and all of 'em eager to start on every other aspect of the company before doing background on their own name, there's bound to be a lot of soundalikes. Besides: reading more than a few pages of results from a Google search when you're excited about your own plan can be very tedious, I'm sure.

Waconia Brewing has started brewing! Looks like a large batch from the pictures and not a small test batch.

I'm trying to get on the QA team for that. We'll see if that flies or dies.

At any rate, can't be long now! Soooooo stoked for this.

Had to join this thread, as it has provided me with multiple belly laughs in the past few months as I've tried to be my own Chaz and follow all the new MN brewery openings/expansions. And I'm glad that BeerBoy (Hi, Dave!) participates, since I sadly don't get out to the farm to see him & his lovely wife nearly often enough. With that little intro out of the way, here's the latest brewing news I've seen elsewhere but not here, in case it slipped past this august group of beer minds.

    1. Looks like parking wasn't the only issue for Wayzata Brew Works. http://www.wayzata.com/2014/09/wayzata-brew-works-withdraws-micro.html
    2. Big weekend of mid-ish October debuts begins with LynLake Brewing throwing open their doors 10/9: http://blogs.citypages.com/food/2014/09/lynlake_brewery_sets_open_date.php
    3. Followed by not-new-brewer-but-new-space debut by North Gate on 10/10: https://twitter.com/northgatebrew/status/513122904138334208
    4. Followed by a grand opening up north in Nisswa for Gull Dam on 10/11: http://www.prweb.com/releases/2014/09/prweb12190261.htm
I keep wondering if one of the other up & comers is going to manage to throw open their doors before LynLake or Gull Dam. Like Gunflint, maybe, finally?

And what's the story with this place? Are they just another metro area homebrewers group? The website seems to hint at larger aspirations. http://www.56brewing.com/

    Great post!

56 Brewing looks like a straight-up brewery in planning. Gunflint is really, really close.

Here's a few more updates, and some insight into some (unnamed) plans that are in the works:

    - Pryes Brewing receives some coverage in City Pages
    - Take 16 Brewing Co. in Luverne, MN opens soon. Local coverage here.
    - Wabasha Brewing Company on St. Paul's West Side has a November 1st opening date planned.
    - Maple Island Brewing in Stillwater is very, very close, and is brewing their first batches.
    - From last year: The redevelopment of the Joseph Wolf complex in Stillwater (plan has been ongoing for years)
    - Some local coverage of an yet-unnamed brewery plan in Moorhead (hattitp to FMBeer.)
    - There's an unnamed plan developing in Perham, MN -- no E.T.A.

Ok, what's up with Shakopee Brewing Co.? And the other 2 (?) in Shakopee. Not counting the recent Badger Hill move.

Shakopee hasn't updated in a while:
As for the two other breweries in planning down that way, both seem to have a similar story of hurry-up-and-wait; I checked up on them in July, and probably don't need to check back again until January.
