The Hess Barrel Aged release set just went on sale
I wonder if these will be any good?
Any idea's ? The Gracias Jack ? cream ale aged in jack daniels.
These sound interesting ... Is there a big demand for these or not !!!!

It's rumored that people who like Hess exist, but I don't personally know any of these people.

There are 200 available and after 53 minutes, it's not sold out. That should tell you everything you need to know about the demand.

If they weren't in a set, I'd actually grab the Torulus.

Did they ever clarify whether the bottles are 12oz or 22oz? 24oz of barrel aged strong ales + 12 oz of barrel aged cream ale for $50 would be absolutely absurd.

I wonder when they will release a Sanctimonious.

I never saw a clarification, but likely bombers. Not that it helps the contents.

All day they were hyping this release on Facebook saying it was close to being sold out. 7:15 and still there.

This statement tells me how rediculous things have become.

Haha on one hand yeah, on the other it's just a comparison (I believe) to the MT release and their 400 bottles of coffee variant which sold out in under 4mins.

Maybe, maybe not. I think it is more of an indication that a lot of people have limits on how much they go after special releases.

I'll be curious to see how quickly Council's BA Pirate's Breakfast will go this fall...

I don't know about that. It's still Hess... Grouping them was a huge mistake, but a lot of people wouldn't care much about a Hess BA Stout (myself included, who maxed on MT without thought).

When did Hess get a bad rep? Love their beers, have loved them since they were a secondary stop after Alesmith. Love the Cream Ale, love the Orange Honey Wheat, love the IPAs, especially now that I can actually get them in cans.

I can't figure out why they ever got a good rep. Personally I find their beers to be really mediocre, and that's also since trying them out in their Miramar days.

I checked out their Northpark facility a couple of months ago, and while it was an awesome spot, the beers were horrible. Especially when you consider their competition...

If Hess is your opinion of mediocre beer, you're letting the San Diego bias get to you. It is like when I go to a San Diego bar and they have Alesmith, Ballast Point, Lost Abbey, Stone, Modern Times, Societe, Belching Beaver, Green Flash, and Alpine on tap and someone pipes up about how the tap list is "mediocre" because it is predominately flagships.

Yeah... No. Hess is quite mediocre.
