As the title of the thread suggests, looking for breweries, brewpubs, bars and bottle shops in or near Bradenton FL that are worthwhile.

I will be down there with my girlfriend Nov 13-17 and looking to try some good local beer. I will not have a car, so traveling will be pretty limited. I will be staying with my uncle and we have already planned a trip to Cigar City, but besides that, I do not know much about the area.

    Any info would be appreciated.

Bradenton is pretty spread out. The only brewery options are near downtown... Motor Works and Darwin are both near the Pirates minor league stadium.

There are no real local bottle shop options. ABC Liquor on Manatee (state route 64) is a chain with a decent selection (including locals and Florida beers).

Pubs... Lost Kangaroo is probably the best option.

Most everything I just mentioned are downtown... not much else that I'm aware of, so if you are not near downtown it may be out of reach without wheels.

The day you go to CCB you should try to double up and hit either Rapp or Cycle. Both are on the way there/back from Bradenton.

If you make it to Sarasota you add TotalWine as a good bottle shop option, on University.

Also, JDUB'S, Big Top and Sarasota Brewing are all smaller local options.

Pubs in Sarasota range from dives with great selections like Shamrock or most of the non - chain restaurants you see (many have decent selections...). Growler is cool for just a bar setting and Mr. Beery's was once named a top 100 beer bar in the US. It is still a cool place with a nice selection.

phone is about dead... will reply later if I think of more... and welcome to the #srqbeerscene

Agree about hitting Cycle and Rapp on the CCB day. Grab lunch at the Cajun Cafe while you're out there.

Agree with all above and Darwin's/Motorworks are within walking distance of each other but in an 'interesting' area of town so I would drive if possible. Lost Kangaroo has a 'hard to believe' selection some times and is a great hang out but the only two times I have ever had my life threatened by douche bag drunks who looked 18 has been here at night (on two completely separate occasions) so in other words it tends to have an 'interesting' evening crowd on weekends. A lot of the bars along main street have good selections of beer but stay away from Old Main. Almost got stabbed by a bum with a knife there once and I had a friend roofied there. In all reality I would just make an afternoon of hitting these spots and then head out to Anna Maria Island for a great 'locals' scene at one of the beaches/piers and some nice music on the beach at night. If you have any other questions there are some great BA's in that area who would gladly answer you on here or feel free to PM me.
    Cheers!
