12 Days of Xmas Hints and Haulz

This. I expect to have a page long note for the box as a whole, and each beer will have a note inside and/or outside the wrapping paper as well.

 

Haha, I don't know about a page long one. But I am intending to put a label for each day on the boxes, as well as a note about refridgeration needs, and such.

 

Hint #2. I have never been to my targets state
Hint #3 I am NOt shipping to a state that ends in a vowel

 

Hint #1 - shipping outside my time zone
Hint #2 - my target has not participated in The Locals BIF (at least not through the first 3 rounds)

 

Hint #3: My target lives in a state where my best friend has lived for 5 years but he's a born again christian so that is why I haven't visited, ahhh friendship!

 

I also will have to trade for some of my targets wants.

 

Now is as good a time as any to point out to those newer to doing BIFs, there is not any expectation that you will do this to attain wants. It is commendable, and it seems like a few people are doing it which is awesome. But "Wants" are not "Needs", and trading to get bottles to send is going above and beyond, not the status quo.

 

Does your target like the same team you do?

 

Busy weekend, can't believe I have 4 pages to catch up..

 

General question out to the group as this is my first BIF: What should the sender do if your target happens to check in (either here on BA or Untapped) one of the brews that you have obtained off of their want list between now and say the end of November? Not that this has happened yet, but there is a good potential for it.

 

Been away from consistent internet access, on a much needed break. Looks like I've missed a lot of hints. I think I've caught up and have my potential sender narrowed down to 29.

 

I would say depending on how they rate it, send it anyways, or try to replace it. I had it happen in the locals bif sort of I realized to late after I had already wrapped it that my target had already had one of the beers I planned on. So I got different bottle, and threw the one he had in also as an extra.

 

If he/she rated is poorly, I'd probably avoid sending it. But in general I don't think that's a showstopper. Not everybody checks every single checkin by their target. As a matter of fact, I know my target has common wants/gots; in most cases if he has a want that he rated very highly, I won't hesitate to send it. Of course, you don't want to send him 12 things he already had, but some folks in here have had a LOT of different beers and finding 12 new ones might not be easy.

 

Yeah I'm not gonna lie, I don't necessarily check Hads or Untappd checkins at all, I go by wants. If you had it, disliked it enough you don't want to see it again, and leave it as a want, that's not my fault. (In reality I often do cross-check hads, but if it's a Want and a Had and was well rated, I assume it's a perma-want and will send it anyway)

 

I'll be hitting at least 5 of my target's wants. Nice list btw.

 

I'll be the dissenter here, I would say no, don't send it. In the spirit of Xmas, try to send something unique and thoughtful. As much as my wife likes those big soft ugly ass, pajama pants, I'm not buying her an extra pair for under the tree.

 

For this BIF specifically, this is not a bad point. I'm still sticking with "do what feels right" rather than a specific suggestion, but I can't argue the point.

 

I can't argue with "Do what feels right" either, because that's the mantra of a BIF.

 

Hint #1--Shipping north
Hint #2--I've never sent anything (or traded in person) with my target
Hint #3--NOT shipping to the Gopher state

 

For me its more that I have the ability and the contacts to make it happen, so I will make it happen!
