Sour goodness? If your talking about a DIPA with sour goodness I have some questions regarding your opinion.

I love the old Panzer Wolf. Just had one the other day (thanks Rob). I like it much better than Dreadnaught (I like that as well though).

Meh. Anything from FFF gets tons of love, which is half the problem - expectations can rarely be met. APW is a very 'ok' beer - nothing wrong with it, but nothing fantastic about it either. Take off the FFF label and slap on some obscure brewery, and this thread wouldn't even exist.

Dreadnaught and Alpha King are nice, but also very overhyped.

Zombie Dust, on the other hand, is a spectacular beer.

Have had both very fresh Dread and very fresh Panzer Wolf. Thought they were both great but Dread clearly the winner for me.

I'd take both over Zombie Dust.

I call these type of ipa lemonade ipa because of the sweet and sour lemon like flavor. It's in heady tipper and ghandi bot too

Someone please send me some Zombie Dust. I'm still looking for a reason to be impressed by Three Floyds.

I understand lemon flavor in beer, I pick up sweet lemon flavor in IPAs often. What I have never found, and do not think should ever exist in an IPA/DIPA is any hint of sourness. I could understand a bit of a "phantom" tart perception due to association with lemon. If someone legitimately tastes a sourness/tartness in a beer I question the quality of the beer or the persons palate itself.

I had it a few times. Didn't rate it, but wasn't too impressed with the beer.

It's not a sour type sourness. Like lemonade like sour. Almost like crystal lite

Not sure if it is underrated (I don't rate though). I do agree with you that it was better than Dreadnaught and Zombie Dust, but that is my palate. I enjoy Alpha King more though. I am also enjoyed Apocalypse Cow and Live a Rich Life better than both Dreadnaught and Zombie Dust and I have had all of them fresh. To each their own.

Admittedly not a typical DIPA, but if you ever get a chance try this one and then get back to us.

Ive had bitter monk. That's a gooood beer with true sour flavor versus the lemonade sweet and sour I'm talking about

I have had a similar beer from The Livery. A Belgian IPA fermented with Brett and barrel aged is something where a tart flavor is expected, not so much with a DIPA.

Because a lot of people shy away from malt forward IPAs. I personally love APW. I traded specifically for some not too long ago.

Unlike Floyd's other hopped up offerings Artic panzer just tastes dirty with hops. I find the whole aroma and taste off putting. I usually sware off DIPA's after I drink an Artic and spend time with Barley-wines and Stouts...but then I usually find my way back to DIPA's.

If I'm in the mood for a tongue-raker, APW is my one go to brews. Having said that, if I have a choice I do prefer Dreadnaught between the two, which I consider to be one of the top tier DIPA's.

Shocking that stupac2 would be found in a thread taking a shot at FFF. I have to say that I loved the comment that Nick Floyd made about Portland recently, only for the reason that the majority of those on this site who constantly go out of their way to bash FFF (and other midwest breweries, for that matter) are West Coast or Pacific Northwest BA's. It was great to see the haters whining, crying, and bitching about it. :stuck_out_tongue: Your parochialism never seems to astonish. I know it's hard to accept that some midwest breweries, including FFF, put out brews as good as (and in some cases, better) than your locals.

Having said that, some of my personal favorite breweries hail from the Pacific Northwest and the West Coast and personally love the Portland area.

This is really funny to me, for a few couple. First, I've acknowleded that I liked Dark Lord '09 and Zombie Dust at least as often as I say something negative about their other beers. Second, am I not supposed to post what I did in this thread? I think APW doesn't get much love because it's not good. That answers the OP's question.

Did you actually read that thread? I mean, did you read this: http://beeradvocate.com/community/threads/three-floyds-goes-to-europe.14566/page-2#post-175066. Because even Nick Floyd didn't agree with what he supposedly said, and once he apologized I (and I assume everyone was) was okay with him. So, uhh, what are you talking about? You're no Levitation, that's for sure.

See, I don't agree with that. I think that FFF, what I've tried of it anyway, is as a whole a very mediocre brewery. There are dozens of breweries that make beer I like more, all over the country (not just in CA). If it were just mindless parochialism then I wouldn't be able to say that Upland makes good beer. GASP, I just complimented an Indiana brewery!

Also, Why do you care? If you say that Pliny is the most overrated beer in the world I don't really give a shit, who cares what some other asshole across the country thinks about anything?

But I do hope you keep responding to every negative comment about FFF that I make, it's mildly amusing.
