A past trading partner and myself are trying to work something out for a growler that was filled at HF. It's a 750 ml swing top. My question is, are these all counter-pressure filled? He saw them do something other than a straight tap fill. Could it be a CO2 purge? If that's the case, what's the time-frame on drinking these? They were filled about a week and a half ago.

    Thanks for any information.

CO2 purge. They only do that for the hoppy beers. I would drink it sooner rather than later.

This was a growler fill of Abner. So definitely CO2 purge, not counter pressure?

Thanks. Will this still be drinking okay at this point? By the time I get it, about 2 weeks. I have no experience with CO2 purged growlers and how long they hold up.

I've consumed co2 purged growlers of HF ipa's weeks after filling and found no noticeable difference, and i'm very picky when it comes to fresh ipa's. The freshness and carbonation were still great after 3+ weeks on my 750's of double galaxy. i would say go for it.

HF does a very nice pour. It's not counter pressure, and it certainly won't last forever, but I've definitely had a few 3-4 week old HF growlers that were still drinking great.

I can attest that a fill of Abner from HF still tastes absolutely incredible even at about 2.5 weeks.

    Cheers!

The most recent batch of Abner was far and away the best yet. I was floored by the pint I had at Parker Pie a couple weeks ago and the subsequent growler I purchased at the brewery. Shaun and co. have absolutely dialed it in.

It was awesome. We had a fresh can of Heady Topper right after we finished Abner and everyone agreed they liked Abner more. I was pretty stunned, what an amazing beer.

Can you bring your own glass to the Brewery for a fill? If so, how much to fill a 64 oz growler if you bring it?

As long as the growler is brown, they will fill it.

Fill prices can be found here: http://www.hillfarmstead.com/retail/

We need a Hill Farmstead sticky at the top of the New England Section.

While I love Heady and Pliny, I think that Abner is a better beer than both of them. I only wish that I lived closer to Hill Farmstead.
