Sadly, unless you live near Chico, Berkeley or Mills River, NC this one will be out-of-reach. We only made a handful of cases of this beer to celebrate the anniversary of the Torpedo Room in Berkeley. All three properties will get it, but it'll be in-and-out with a swiftness.

The other barrel aged IPA they had- Audition actually was pretty decent to me having low expectations. I'd try this.

Couldn't agree more. Someone will be quick to bash you (or me) but barrel aging an IPA sounds like a horrible idea. It goes against the very reason I drink IPAs. Sorry SN, but you can keep that one.

PS. Torpedo is not an imperial...

Never going to find it but I am not obsessing over this. It sounds like Anderson Valleys Bourbon barrel aged stout (low ABV beer aged in wild turkey barrels) which the reviews were not so stellar.

Also they could have used a higher ABV beer like a DIPA for the base I think the Torpedo will possibly get lost in a bourbon mess.

This oak-aged gentle giant has been gaining popularity over the past few years and is now available year-round.
For Burton Baton, we brew two "threads," or batches, of beer: an English-style old ale and an imperial IPA.
After fementating the beers separately in our stainless tanks, they're transferred and blended together in one of our large oak tanks. Burton Baton sits on the wood for about a month.
When enjoying the Burton Baton, you'll find an awesome blend of the citrus notes from Northwestern hops melding with woody, vanilla notes from the oak. The wood also tends to mellow the 10% ABV of Burton, so tread cautiously!

I thought I wouldn't be a fan, but Founders Doom was quite good. Also, I do like Burton Baton. It's nothing crazy, but it's solid.

Not sure how I feel about barrel-aged IPA's or DIPA's. However, since it's coming from an excellent brewery, I'll probably try it if I see it.

Have you had BA Double Bastard?

I think he was trying to say it's not spirit barrel aged. Burton is aged in base barrels without any sort of spirit in it. Very different than a 6.7% IPA aged in actual bourbon barrels.

BA Double Bastard, Southern Charred as it was called, was awful. I figured sitting in barrels for a year would mellow the hops, but that's all I got out of my bottle. No barrel, no bourbon, just tasted like an Imperial IPA. And I hate IPAs, so it got drainpoured.

I thought it was pretty well done, but then again, I love IPA's.
