The dude can't even count to 0. Seriously, he thought that 0 was the same as 3 way back when I was new to this group. Back then I didn't know about the rampant lack of counting skills, and I was very confused.

Awesome Rich, sorry we missed you at Revolution. Would've been nice to say hi, shoot the shite' a little bit and put a face to the Cyclops avatar with the bad ass moustache. How long you in town for? If you came with any family, wife or so, maybe we can all grab a pie at Giordano's sometime this week. That's me and @TastyDelicousness favorite pizza spot and isn't too far from our house. Not that frozen Gino's East crap @BuckTuckian buys at his local Kroger or Giant Eagle down in KY

You were at Rev? Did you notice me? I was the guy with the beard drinking beer. I should have been easy to spot.

    I absolutely love your post.

Sometimes we (self included) get all wrapped up in the bottle releases, trades, or heck, even a football game...and forget to remember the bigger things in life; family & friends. There's definitely been times where I’ve been the sulking jerk b/c I didn't get a beer I’ve been waiting for or what have you. I personally have to take a step back, look at the bigger picture, & remember I'm having a great time with my good friends, meeting new good friends, and have a family who still loves me in spite of my occasional jerk-tendencies.

While I don't have a specific story to share for your LIF, I just wanted to say thank you for posting this & it will serve as a reminder to myself to put more things in perspective.

    Cheers on a Monday morning

    P.S. I still love beer

So I put some thought into it, and I've decided that I really have not had a perspective gaining moment in beer. This is, I think, due to two main factors: I'm due for one, and I haven't had a great need for one. What I mean by the latter is that while I get really excited about beer, and often bend over backwards to make it to some of the events in my area (Zwanze day as an easy example) I have been fortunate enough to not really get shut out from an event hardly ever, and when I do, I already am doing a pretty good job at realizing how lucky I've been this year, even if I do miss something here or there.

I don't even worry about "releases" since this area, besides Tired Hands, doesn't have any breweries making coveted beer that requires one. This is part of the reason I'm constantly amazed at how much great beer I've received, from this group and others, because I really don't have much in the way of rarities to offer. Philadelphia is of course blessed with awesome distribution, so I'm never at a loss for something out of reach to my trade partners/BIF targets, but I rarely have that "wow" bottle.

Nevertheless, I have noticed myself, with the same obsessive personality, doing some of the things mentioned in the "before" parts of others' posts, and I've had an entire year of buying/trading/drinking/collecting great beer. So, I'm sure that I'm due for a rude awakening at some point, simply because I have not had any kind of moment that brought me more perspective than I try to keep on a day-to-day basis.

I love Gino's East. My favorite pizza place in the city. Giordanos is good, but it's no Ginos

It's a great thing to have someone post something like this once in a while. A few months ago I think we had some similar idea posts. This one hits home. Home, not in the sense of, "This happened to me". More of hitting home as we all need to be reminded once in a while, beer is beer. There is more to be drank, consumed, sought after, etc. My perspective isn't one that I want entered into this LIF. I just want folks to know it's beer, get over it. We all have lives outside of "beer". We all were men/women before beer. Let's not let something meant for good times consume our lives.

I want to say thanks for the post and cheers for having that "moment".

Let me know if you Chicago folks want to grab a drink Thursday Friday or Saturday. We have some dining reservations to work around but no real plans otherwise.

While I can appreciate that you have your own opinion on Chicago style pizza, I can unbiasedly say that you are incorrect kind sir. I do enjoy Gino's, however Giordano's is tops when it comes to Chicago Deep Dish pizza.

Maybe we should do some sort of blind side by side comparison...I mean just to wash the beer down of course
