Always on my list for at least one six-pack each season. And you can't beat the TJ's pricing -- their Josephsbräu line is usually $6 a six-pack in this area.

Oh, and the Winterfest is due out soon, a definite home run.

The wife brought home a 6er of Sam Adams Reble IPA so I am politely drinking one now while she cooks fajitas and enjoys a CAMBA Dry Stout (CAMBA is out of Munich).

Rebel IPA = mehh. I'll take the remains 5 to a Halloween party tomorrow to get rid of em.

I think that's been the general consensus with that beer.

    Oh hell ja!

La Cumbre Brewing Co's "Levitated Pilsner" an imperial Pils and probably the only bottle on the European continent:

I don't know about the ratings on the beers you drink themselves, but your photos should be the highest rated on this website.

Thank you, but I am a mere amateur hobbyist who snaps beer pix.

Beer ratings like any photo - are strictly in the eye of the beholder.

We sure do love our beer cocktails here in the U.S.!

EDIT: This may be exactly what German brewing needs to get back on track: selling Radlers to the U.S. market(s).

    Douglas, thanks for that link!

It will be interesting to see if Radlers will be as popular in the US as they are in Germany. I suppose time will tell.

    Cheers!

What's really funny about the US beer market is that there are people that will drink a beer made with Fruity Pebbles without a second thought, but they find the idea of a radler or russ absolutely absurd. I don't get it.

At the same time, I still think Mixery Colabier might be the single most disgusting beer product I've had in my life.

Yep. A GABF award-winning place recently had on "cask" their brown ale with Cool Ranch Doritos and their porter with Butterfingers. Somehow that's seen as being "innovative," but adding an all-natural soda to your beer so you can drive safely is an abomination. :astonished: I'll never understand it.

I think there is definitely room for radlers in the US beer market, as Stiegl and BBC and their shandy are showing. I was simply always blown away at the holier-than-thou stance of RHG-brewed beers mixed with said abominations.

Doritos & Butterfingers?? That's just silly, but it does probably get them some press.

If it makes any difference, I'll never truly understand the Germans either (though I know if I were to ask, they'd have a perfectly "reasonable" explanation as to why Radler are, in fact, respectable Bier beverages)

I'm not so sure they find the idea of Radlers all that absurd, though. Sixpoint announced one recently and (at least on these boards) lots of people seemed excited about it. I've seen people talk about positively about Stiegl's Grapefruit and (God help us) Schöfferhofer's Grapefruit. My brothers for some reason recently purchased and enjoyed Leininkugel's Summer Shandy. I remain steadfastly anti-radler, however. And although I have purchased and enjoyed Cantillon on occasion, I generally prefer non-fruited beer.

Maybe it's just the squeaky wheels/marketing folks who Greg Koch that give that impression.

I recently enjoyed Southern Tier's Warlock and Elysian's Punkuccino. I will also grab a Leinekugel Summer Shandy from time to time. They're all enjoyable enough.

The difference between myself and some, is that I don't really consider these "beer." Not in the same way I consider Schenkerla's Helles beer. A fair analogy in my opinion, is a few weeks ago when I enjoyed a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Lattte, and another weekend I happily drank their Caramel Macchiato. And while they were enjoyable, I don't consider them "coffee." The Ethiopian roast I picked up from a local roaster fresh yesterday that I drank black this morning is what I consider coffee.

Therefore, while I enjoy having a "Punkuccino" or a "Caramel Macchiato" from time to time, my regular purchases are much more fulfulling, and something I want more than one of in a sitting. Whether it be a properly brewed Ethiopian roast this morning, or a fresh draft of Schlenkerla Helles and Coniston Bluebird Bitter I enjoyed this past weekend. Both of which I've purchased multiple times in the last month.

“I was simply always blown away at the holier-than-thou stance of RHG-brewed beers mixed with said abominations.”

A HUGE +1 to that statement. For the sake of transparency I have had a few Radler type beers (e.g., Sixpoint RAD) but I am also not a German who advocates that beer should be brewed per the RHG. The dichotomy of RHG and Radlers is a very big thing. Needless to say but American beer drinkers do not advocate RHG so drinking a Radler really is not a dichotomy for US beer drinkers.

    Cheers!

There's no dichotomy for German beer drinkers either, because they don't consider Radlers to be "bier."
