First off, I said one week because it'd be a few more days before it arrived! So if it's a week old now, I'd be drinking it at almost TWO!
Really though, call off the cavalry, this was more my (socially awkward) way of removing myself from the LIF without un-Liking the post.

And by the way, I never said "it's no good at 3 weeks" ... When I've had it it was an awesome beer... What I said (or at least 'meant') was that I want to try it at an excessively fresh age to compare. So many people (in general, clearly not in this group ) say that there is a noticeable difference even by just a couple weeks that I want to see what they're talking about.

Dude, he is offering a LIF for a product that you will never see growlered in your life. I think the post above screams "that guy" or "trying to hard guy". Maybe that's not the way you meant it but from the outside...I think his post is simple like it if you want the free beer if you don't or are concerned about its bottle date, temperature its being held or water used pH reading the simple thing to do would be not like the post.

Yup, you (and everyone above) are absolutely right. Was a poorly written way of saying "I've had it, so treat my Like as just a Like". My apologies to Ed, my problem with "this came out very different than how I meant it" strikes again.

also: I had no idea it's a beer that doesn't get growlered; I get that scarcity would keep offsite locations from doing so, but does anyone know why FFF doesn't offer growlers of it? Do they not do growlers at all at the brewpub?

I think Ed should post a YouTube video of him pouring those 32 oz of liquid gold right onto his kitchen floor with a big middle finger waving proud the whole time.

More appropriately, he should arrange a trade with me and do it with a bottle in the trade. No reason to punish the winner of his (very generous, by the way) LIF

No FFF does not want any of their beer in growlers brewers request. I do not know the specific reason why but no not even at the brewery are growlers available and retailers are advised that the keg beer is for on site consumption only.

Interesting, very very strange, but interesting. Those guys, from what I hear, have some odd ways of doing things. Then again lots of brewers seem to (for example, search Hill Farmstead in Beer Talk and you'll find no shortage of people lamenting Shaun's idiosyncrasies)

Self-deprecating contrition aside, how about some REAL contrition. At 3pm EST I'll pick someone and get a growler of the Forest & Main beer of their choosing to them. If Ed Likes the post, he wins automatically, and can dump it on camera if he chooses, or drink it, I deserve it either way. If he does not Like this post, I'll pick someone at random among those that do.

The guys at FFF are pretty pompous, but they make such damn good beer. I hate their customer service, their attitude and projection, but I deal with it because they make a fine product. And they have on occasion done growler fills of Gumballhead, Pride and joy, and Robert the Bruce, but it's very random when the do allow fills, and it has to be with a FFF growler only.

First of all thanks to @heystevec & @mklisz for hooking me up with this amazing beer.

So since March, I have been unemployed and looking for work. This week I accepted a job in Grand Rapids MI. The job is an amazing opportunity and more than I could I have ever have asked for. I've never gone through an interview process where I have clicked which each and every person that I talked to.

I decided that this beer would be my reward once I landed a job. Enjoying my last breakfast beer for a while.

There are a few of you from MI that have been in this thread. I'll be up there solo for about 5-6 months, so I would love to grab a beer, bring something up from OH, learn of some great places. I'm driving up Sunday wouldn't mind a stop along the way for a beer as well.

If you happen to be able to, please join me in a virtual morning beer!

Congrats on the job. I'm not available on Sunday but I would definitely be down to grab a beer with you sometime. Depending where you are in Ohio I am probably between OH and GR. I am about 1 hour and 40 minutes from GR. I try to get out there atleast a few times a year. If you have any questions about GR or Michjgan in general just let me know.

Keith I will be up in MI for Christmas and usually spend a day or two in Grandville. Though I'd guess you'll be back in OH for Christmas, if you're around we will take GR by storm!

I'm coming up from Columbus area. We'll totally get together, and I will take any recommendations on bars/bottle shops/breweries you have. I've been up twice already for interviews (14 total! holy crap!) and have gone to Hopcat, Brewery Vivant, Perrin and of course Founders.
