Anchor Steam and Anchor California Lager are both well balanced beers.

Well, this thread has beautifully illustrated to me how a beer like SN Tumbler comes to be discontinued in favor of a beer like SN Flipside.

For balance, I'd say something like the Great Lakes Eliot Ness and Edmund Fitzgerald.

You can certainly have an unbalanced IPA....either too bitter or too sweet. So if you can have an unbalanced one you can certainly have a well balanced one. My idea that the balance is under the guise that it is an IPA. Every style would have a balance point that helps define the style.

Pliny is super balanced. I would also say Sculpin and GF West Coast.

Firstly there are tons of very well balanced beers that i like to enjoy regularly but for me, right now, I'm gonna have to say:
Southern Tier 2X, inequity and un-earthly (just recently had these 3 and was pretty impressed)
    Alesmith ESB
    Founders All-day
    Troegs Hopback, nugget nectar
    Great Divide Oatmeal Yeti
    Ithica Rustic Harvest
sierra Nevada Harvest and pale ale
Yards Brawler, pale ale, extra special ale
    Dog Fish 60
    Viictory Moving Parts 1 & 2

So many beers being mentioned on here are not remotely balanced (for my tastes at least). Founders All Day is the epitome of how unbalanced a beer on the lower end of the ABV scale can be

Sierra's vienna lager easily makes my best new beers of 2014 list.

Try the Anchor. IPA it is both malty and hoppy.

most of the beers named in this thread are far from being balanced. I have no way to understand how someone could consider Pliny "balanced" :flushed:

I would imagine the same way in which I've heard beers wherein I can detect nothing but a barrage of hop flavors described as "malty messes", and been told before that if I enjoy malt, I should seek out aged IPAs. :astonished:
