Very hoppy yet malty! Very much reminded me of the Stone Sublimely Self Righteous!

I like both. 2013 with a year on it smooths out into a tasty, mild, silky quaff. Fresh FBS has a great edge both years...this year was a bit more bitter fresh, but slightly so.

First time back on the bike tonight since the crash/surgery(2 months ago). I got some work to do to get in shape lol. I'll give it 2 weeks til I'm back near where I was. I was never elite :stuck_out_tongue:.

    Reviews:

Good Dunkel lager. Aromas were a bit too fruity but had some solid malt presence and complexity there. Taste of caramel, toffee, toast, brown bread, light chocolate, raisin, plum, fig, herbal, and grass. Light roast and earthy hop bitterness on the finish gives some nice balance. Good robustness of malt flavors, a fair bit cleaner than the aromas with a much lower presence of fruitiness. Smooth, fairly crisp, and lightly creamy mouthfeel. Quite enjoyable.

This was really damn good. Taste of big apricot, pear, apple, white grape, light banana, clove, light caramel, toasted bread, lightly spicy rye, peppercorn, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. A fair amount of yeast/peppercorn spiciness on the finish. Really robust and well balanced yeast, dark/bready malt, and spice flavors. Peppercorns aren't overdone at all and give a just enough spice to match the yeast ester flavors. Very smooth drinking, fairly crisp, and a bit creamy from the rye adding body. Really a big fan of this, another nice impulse Vivant 4 pack grab.

Good English Barleywine. Probably well aged right now as I havent seen a new shipment of this in years. Quite a bit fruitier for the style, which I expected because of the yeast they use; But a fair amount of some good malt complexity is there as well. Taste of caramel, toffee, toast, brown bread, biscuit, nuttiness, raisin, plum, fig, apple, cherry, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Some moderate earthy/spicy bitterness on the finish. Good balance of malt, hops, and fruity ester flavors. Smooth sipping, nicely creamy; no booziness. Quite enjoyable actually. No idea on age, but I am sure it needed whatever it had going for it :grinning:
