hrrm to me devaluing is exactly what you're doing - putting less worth in it b/c you've had it a lot.

    that's cool, horses for courses

that's the rub, right? ultimately this is subjective and you just don't know until you try. and that can go either way

Call it what you want. I am not sure what's wrong with it. Sometimes you have to part with something you like to get something you really want to try. Should I lay on the ground now, so that it's easier for you to talk down to me?

Yep. Exactly that...to you. To me, I doubt I would be excited to pay $50 for a bottle to drink it again after having had it (I didn't buy or trade for the bottle I tried). My post was more about over-trading for stuff as the OP is a friend. The problem with trading these days, is that limited beers get super-hyped and people get overly excited by the next uber-whale to come along and trade the farm to get it. Most of the time I'd be willing to bet they end up being disappointed. Not that the beers weren't good, but they probably weren't as good as having all the beer they trade to get it. Just because something has limited bottles or brewed at Hill Farmstead, SARA or wherever doesn't mean it's infinitely better than something I can buy off the shelf or though mail-order. Case in point ...at a recent share, easily obtainable Arctic Devil was much preferred over both limited hype-whales Adam and K13. Try doing a blind share sometime and let people judge the beer based on taste and not the label.

These days I refuse to trade more than $4$, nor to I trade beer for more value than I paid for it. I try to trade with people who feel the same way. It definitely makes life easier. I know eventually I'll get to try most of the big hyped beers that I get from one of these traders, or at a share or festival anyway.
