Lately I'm like 95/5 home(friends place)/bar. My money situation (student teaching) has turned me into a slight penny pincher (in that if I'm going to spend money on beer, it's going to be the cheapest way -- bottles to drink at home). The only recent time I've been to a bar that I can think of is when a friend from near penn state wanted to come to York to check out the one taproom I always rave about, but hilariously we didn't even go there, we went to a different location first with the intent of hopping to the other spot, but we ran into some friends at the first place that are mutual but that he personally hadn't seen in like 6 years so we got a bottle of black butte XXVI to go and took it back there, him and I split it, and we just chilled there

Confession time... I've actually never drank at Pizza Boy (or for that matter had any of their beers), despite living so close, and them now distributing some bottled stuff. I really really have been meaning to change that (and probably will soon), but it's just an unfortunate side effect of what I listed in my above post. I've been there once (but it was just to check it out and see if they still had 120 minute/pumking, of which they only had the latter, this was right when pumking landed this year), and will be there again for the sour release in a few weeks (but only to pick up bottles for other people since no way I'm personally affording $30 for a single 750 right now lol)... I need to find time to just go there, enjoy some food and beer, and finally take in Pizza Boy for all they are apparently worth

Yeah, if I were actually near my cellar it would probably be much, much different. That said though, even when I'm home I go out at least once a week. The local beer store has 10-12 taps so there's usually a crew of us there drinking on Fridays and Saturdays (I'm usually just there on Friday). I'll fairly frequently bring a bottle of something or another that's out-of-distro, but usually I'll just drink whatever is new. Drinking at a beer store is certainly a hell of a lot cheaper than drinking at a bar. And luckily 60-70% of the beer (and probably 80-90% of the beer I'm interested in, i.e. things I haven't had before) are stored cold so its just a matter of walking over to the coolers and pulling something out.

We've finally started up a monthly bottle share of regulars from the store, so starting to work through my bottles a little quicker. Basically we end up doing Friday at the local store, Saturday drinking beer around the house (plus whatever else is going on that day), and Sunday is wine night (so maaaaybe will get in one beer in the afternoon). It's a rough life I tell ya...

I very seldom go to bars now unless it's what all my friends "have" to do. I too much be prefer a home setting or actual tap room.

I'm going to say 80% home, 20% out. That equals the one place a week I make a priority to go, whether its is lunch on a rain day, happy hour, or dinner with friends (15%) and my once a month all day drinkfest kitchen pass that includes breweries, bars and debauchery (5%).

Um... hello..? Are you posting in the right place? I don't mean to be rude, and if you'd like to join the group you're welcome to, but we've never seen you before and this post is pretty off the wall (no pun intended)

edit: Wrong thread or not, I wasn't trying to chase you away! You're welcome to join us if you like, I just didn't understand your post!

Also, I'd love to get to Forgotten Boardwalk soon, the place looks awesome and I hear the beer is good.

I'm wondering if (without looking at what the subforum was) they saw "The locals" and thought this is a thread about local breweries or something?

I dunno, just throwing a random guess out there lol

Besides it being on my wants list, why am I tagged for your Sweet Repute? (don't mind, just confused)

@Lehighace06: Because you posted a picture of a VBS of wheat beers  Sweet Repute is a wheat wine, so not exactly your standard 'wheat beer', but a wheat beer nonetheless!

As far as I can tell it is Jack Abby's version of a lagered barley wine (as JA is a lager-only brewery) ... it's also aged in third use bourbon barrels (previously used for BA Fram) ... it's really a fantastic beer and it's unbelievable what this brewery can do with a lager

I didn't realize that Jacks Abby was lager-only. Never had anything from them yet. Considering lagers are more expensive to produce and not typically in as much demand as ales, its a bit amazing they went in that direction. Got to get around to trying out Framminghammer at some point.
