I was looking for a thread on Dinner and I'm guessing this is as good a place as any for this question; If anyone here has been to the prior releases, can you confirm or deny if they allow people to bring bottles for an impromptu bottle share? This seems to be happening more and more, at least at the releases/events I've been to recently. Plan Bee Savage release ended up being 2 hours of pre-release share with a bunch of folks opening bottles and sharing a lot of stories and laughs. It was a great time. I'm headed up for Dinner and would love to bring a bottle or two to share with people while we wait out in the cold, just not sure if MBC can/will allow that. Cheers all.

It would probably be best to e-mail MBC and see if they have any input on the idea. So many different liquor laws in different states and towns you never know what they are allowed.

Yeah that's a good call, I think I'll do that, see what their thoughts are. Cheers.

You do realize this would be at like 6-8 AM right? Not judging, just throwing in out there.

Ha, yes of course. It is quite early. The last release I was at people started arriving around 8:30/9 and opening bottles shortly after....small pours, like a big share. Admittedly this is earlier, but I guess I was thinking about those in line still waiting in the 9-10 time frame. Unless anyone wants to open bottles at 6, in which case i'm game.

I walked out of a local Crazy Bruce's with 4 "Another One"s this Saturday. I couldn't believe it! So delicious!

You might want to bring a jacket. Bottle shares are usually my second defense against the cold.

Trillium isn't always that easy either. When I lived close by I got stuck in lines there plenty of times. But yea, really good god damn good beer! Timing was key there

If anyone is keeping up with the bottle share aspect of the Dinner release, I reached out to them and unfortunately it's a no-go as they are not permitted to have outside alcohol brought in. Coffee and donuts it is.

anyone know any good hotels in the area? i am driving up friday afternoon, debating on staying in Portland or Freeport and then waking up early to get in line. Kind of leaning towards portland for the bar scene and to enjoy friday night, but also Freeport for the proximity... opinons?

Not sure what price range you're looking for, but we love the Portland Harbor Hotel. Right around the corner from In'finiti and a short walk from Novare Res.

I second that, but you will pay a pretty penny for the room. Instead of being like $8 a bottle it becomes more like $208.00 a bottle ha

Ha, very true! I was reading too quickly and missed that this was a beer-focused trip, as opposed to a weekend in Portland that featured beer  There are probably better options if you're just looking for a place to stay the night before.

I need to get back to Portland soon for a weekend and some beers. Great city.

There are two hotels/motels within a hundred yards of MBC. Maybe an Econo Lodge and a Comfort Inn...or something like that. Should be an easy Google search...

Would a growler of fuzzy baby ducks for 2 bottles of dinner sound like a fair trade? Or am I way off?

I'd say you're way undervaluing FBD, Dinner's hitting far more frequently than FBD usually does (3 times in the past 7 months or so as opposed to 3 times in the last year), the limit is way higher (a case at its lowest as opposed to just two growlers), and the cost is essentially the same. FBD also has a better reputation than Dinner. As a yardstick, I traded a 64oz growler of Ducks for a bottle of Sue, and I know multiple other people have done the same. Sue was a 4 per person bottle from HF that cost 25 bucks. For comparison 2 bottles of Dinner runs 16 bucks, which is actually under the value of the growler and fill of FBD, which comes out to 17 dollars.

Now, that's just my perspective and the general rule of thumb with trading is if you feel like you got a good deal then it's not a problem. You're not too far off from what's fair, but I'd say you should get at least 3 bottles of Dinner out of a 64oz FBD growler, and honestly, I'd say even that would be questionable in getting the deal done.

Personally, I don't think there's any quantity of Dinner that would get me to trade FBD, but I've already had both beers and know that I like FBD more than Dinner so that's not going to hold true across the board.
