Um, ok. Maybe I just don't understand beer distribution. Or, maybe I think I have an idea.

Then he should say why he knows, especially if he's going to call a business stupid for having something a price he thinks is too low. Otherwise he's just a coward for coming on to post that kind of shit and then remaining silent.

I work for a retailer, and pillzsix is correct.

Thanks for your honesty. Sorry, I prefer not to read members of the beer community calling businesses stupid for having something they think is priced too low. It's certainly not helping me as a consumer and if I saw a six pack at 8 bucks for a session beer I certainly wouldn't think that the business had it priced incorrectly.

How much would you prefer to retail a six pack for over the cost to consider it "not stupid" to your business? Ideally, is a dollar enough or should it be more than that?

Do all retailers pay the same amount regardless of quantity or other possible negotiated rates?

Maybe they are only making a quater, but could be its the same type of thing Liquor Barrel does w/ Fury, pricing it below/at cost at 7.99, in the hopes people will buy other beer as well. Must be working as they have been running that price for well over a year.

Which Liquor Barrel? Not the one in St. Louis Park, as far as I know.

Bought more Hopsession yesterday at my local for $9.79. I admit it seems high, but that is a really good beer (especially now while it is still fresh).

Merwin Liquors also has extremely low prices on Surly.

Was at LB Miracle Mile earlier today. They had all of the regular Brau line at 7.49- Hopsession was 10.49. I understand pricing your seasonal a bit higher, but 40%? Surly does this with Abrasive/Wet, but seems like its slightly more warranted given the raw materials needed.

I was going to grab another sixer of it, but went w/ Saga instead.

I guess the market dictates what price will work. If you still see Hopsession on the shelves in December, it was priced too high.

I got mine for $9.99 and think it was worth every penny. Fantastic; perfect for these hot days.

Anyone else try the North Shore Wheat? Had a couple last night-its up there with Schells quality wise. Its a bit spendier at 9.49, but Im impressed that LSB put this out

You have to account for volume as well. Some stores have to build in a larger margin to offset lower volume sales. That said, $0.25 on $8 is just barely over a 3% margin. That's not enough to keep the lights on if they did that across the store.

Wow, for a low alcohol APA - this thing is pretty impressive.

Limited releases are usually priced per case. No bulk deals for the most part.

All out of Lake Superior Wheat at Blue Max. They and the distributor did not anticipate the demand for this beer. Maybe there is a bigger market for hefeweizens in the Twin Cities than most people think.

    Still some Hopsession left.

Did a side by side w/ North Shore Wheat and Schell Hefe(its out if you can find it!). Tough decision, they are fairly similar. Id give the nod to Schell just for the fact its a couple bucks cheaper per sixer, and its also only 4.4%, opposed to LSB 5.5. LSB did a great job with their Hefe though.
