Might have to get a BW growler and age it myself! I don't think they allow you to bring your own, though... that'd be perfect for a SS 32oz swing top.

We love Silver Creek, usually make up there once a month or so.

That'd be interesting to open. Swing top or screw?

    screw top
had a CW Bourbon Barrel Stout filled at the same time.. drank it this summer after the Great Taste (shared with a bunch of people)... tasted fine.

hoping the Barleywine holds up, too

Interesting. I would expect it to be not only completely flat, but oxidized as hell. Maybe stouts are a different story, but a hoppy or light beer in a screw-top will be completely ruined in about 3-4 weeks.

The NG BW was pretty light colored and hoppy, originally.Sounds like a perfect bottle share exercise.

Lol no idea so many in this forum go to silver creek. Always cool to meet other BAs so I'll extend my offer to grab a beer with you as well.

Barley wine will be on tap for sometime. I helped Steve haul some of the grain in for it and he told me they where planning to age a few kegs but the rest will just be on tap there by February I think it'll be much better.

I've aged a growler of their porter for a year I'm planning to do the same with some of the barley wine. Wish I did that with double wheat rye.

Logistically, thats virtually impossible given how many stores and bars NG is distributed to in the Milwaukee area.

But you have to admit there is room for much improvement.

It's happening very, very slowly as the importance of craft beer grows within their businesses.

Business owners should strive to provide impossible results to their customers. They'll fail, inevitably, but if you fail at impossible it's most likely that you'll still be heads and shoulders above your competition.

Actually, we are visiting my brother who lives in Mequon and we'll be staying in Grafton, so a trip to Silver Creek is very likely!!

Remember that time I said there would be no new seasonals or thumbprints this year and you doubted/mocked my response? You can't have it both ways dude. It's not like the information is just there for retailers to grab and relay to antsy beer dorks

I'm sorry if it read as mocking or doubting. It wasn't meant that way.

But I'm still going to hold distributors and shop owners to the highest standard when it comes to information and education. I want them to know more than me. Too often that doesn't happen. And I'm not some know-it-all- I just pay attention and absorb information.

You're in Madison, right? We should grab a beer and talk about it sometime.

Then you're going to continuously be disappointed in them, because what you read on the Internet, especially here, isn't always true.

I thought it was pretty obvious that we weren't getting anymore Thumbprints before 2015 even without confirmation from @chazmcbro (who I trust totally with anything related to allocation and distribution since he has the connections to be in the know); New Glarus's website shows blanks on the calendar where you would normally see the next Thumbprints. I can't complain, it's been a pretty great year for the series overall.

    This entire statement is laughable.

New Glarus is deliberately withholding information from distributors, reps, retailers, and consumers for competitive reasons, but you're going to hold them to the highest standard. Lulz. It's all rumor and speculation until publicly acknowledged by the brewery or is sitting on the shelf.

Also, while some store owners are passionate about beer, many are not. They will only educate themselves and their employees to the level necessary to run their business successfully. That level may change with time, but I suspect most store owners are doing pretty well at the moment.

Your last statement is laughable too, based on the posts I've seen from you in the six months you've been on BeerAdvocate. From the moment you started posting here you have been constantly presenting your opinions as fact (when opinions are not being solicited) and telling everyone how things "should" be. In very long-winded fashion. Bloviate, as was said by another member previously.

Can we acknowledge that expecting a beer (especially something like New Glarus, which you can find in gas stations for cryin out loud) to be on every shelf on a single release day is also completely unreasonable?

    Agreed.

Let's us celebrate our agreement with the adding of chocolate to milk.

Whether it's about New Glarus or another brewery, I enjoy speaking w a salesperson who has some knowledge of the product he is selling. To me it makes all the difference in the world when seeking new things to try. And it is not only about beer, it is about everything one buys. It also makes the whole experience more enjoyable. I feel the folks at Discount in Milwaukee are that way even though some have bashed them other places here on BA
