I know you don't care about any more responses and anything I say will be because I'm a "homer" but I agree with everyone saying that they nailed what they were going for. Was it a phenomenal beer? No. Was it a good beer that accomplished what was described in the label? Yes. It is not for everyone, that much is clear. Just as I wouldn't expect to like Hardywood's Gingerbread Stout all that much because I don't like gingerbread spice, I wouldn't expect someone who doesn't like margaritas/tequila to like this beer all that much.

@Roguer - "Sometimes, tasting exactly as intended is not a good thing. Sometimes, it's a great thing. Let your taste buds decide." TRUE - But if it tastes as expected/intended, and you willingly spent money on the beer, how can you be upset? It's like any beer - some are great, some are shitty, and most in between. That's the risk you take buying a new beer. The only beer that people can legitimately have a gripe about (in my opinion) is an infected beer.

I hate to comment on this thread again, but this is pretty much exactly what I'm saying regarding rating to style/intention but in a more plain statement.

It's like when people bitched about Stone Crime and Punishment. They very plainly and bluntly stated that the beers would be intensely spicy in all promotional materials and on the bottle, not to mention the names. If you went into the beer expecting it not to be that hot, you weren't paying attention. They nailed exactly what they wanted to, and those that enjoy spicy food loved the beers accordingly. Those that rated them poorly for being too hot and a waste of money, well, I don't think you have any legitimate reason to be upset or rate the beer poorly since Stone was completely honest about their intentions and goals for the beer.

This is the same thing: they're trying to imitate a margarita, and anyone that is familiar with the Bruery knows that they are all about intensely-flavored beers that often eschew traditional styles, ignore balance, and are not for the faint of palate. You should have expected this beer to be a margarita in a beer bottle, because if the Bruery does anything right it's follow through on their brewing intent along a path that is all their own.

My point is that a margarita is not straight tequila, so you are incorrect to say that the abv of a margarita isn't going to change and is going to stay at 40%.

I couldn't taste anything other than movie popcorn butter in that beer, what a mess.

One thing I've discovered over the years: There is no such thing as perfection in brewing. Many have strived and have come close. But if an experienced brewer tastes a batch and comments" ahh perfection" when the beer is released will every consumer say that? We all have different palettes and will always lean to the style or brewer we like. But let's face it its like art or music; we all feel differently and taste differently. An doesn't it make it cool when you hear about something new or different? Hell If we all drank Coors light or listened to the same music it would suck. I'm for diversity - agree or not it keeps it interesting.

I personally think this sounds awful for a beer, but if they pulled it off I would give them props and rate it highly for their ability to brew a beer that taste like a margarita. I actually love margaritas, so maybe it doesn't sound awful.
