    Hey guys --

I just got back from a trip to NC and I picked up some Wicked Weed (didn't get as many as I'd like, but it happens) and an Event Horizon (2014) for an acquaintance of mine.

    The list:
    Tributary (New Belgium collab)
    Appalachia
    Black Angel
    Bretticent
    Serenity
    Capricious
    Lusus Naturae
    Genesis

The problem is we didn't agree on terms for the trade beforehand and I don't really know what constitutes a fair trade for those beers. I know he has access to some solid brews, but I also don't want to be a greedy individual and ask for too much, ruining a regular trading partner. I just want a balanced, fair trade that benefits both of us. What does the BA community think?

    Thanks in advance!

$4$ and call it a day.

It's a regular trading partner, right?

Not yet, but I'd like it to be.

I figured $4$ would be the suggestion, and was what I was leaning towards.

without knowing where the other person is, it is hard to make specific suggestions.

Louisiana, but has connections all over. He (I think jokingly) floated Abyss and Abraxas as possible trade items, which I would certainly love as I've never had them, but I don't know how fair that would be. And again, I'd like to make him a regular trading partner, not have him say "Never trading with that greedy a**hole again!"

Be generous if you want to establish partners, WW Trade value had gone down since the initial craze

The only reasons to ever go above $4$ are if the trader had to go to great lengths to get a beer (like drive to an early morning release) or if the beer is an older vintage and/or no longer made (for example, until this year I'd go well over $4$ to get Raisin d'Extra. It was vintage and no longer made). All the bottles you mentioned above, while good and reasonably sought after, are readily available on store shelves.

From my experiences trading WW beers, is that Black Angel (new release is much tarter and better than the 2nd release which tasted like cherry juice) and Genesis are your 2 best beers on that list. Now EH is worthy beer in it's own right but because of the sheer amount that was produced is easily attainable from most quality bottle shops.
$4$ is probably going to be your best answer when establishing a regular trading partner. Love regular trading buds!!
    Good Luck

Thanks, guys. I'll probably just tell him to pick from whatever he has on hand, $4$. He's a great guy and I have no doubt whatever he antes up will be new and exciting to me.

Man, this surprised me. Last year I had my girlfriend running around and grabbing EH for me -- it seemed a lot more scarce. This year I bought 3 and could have bought 3 cases if I'd wanted to. I don't feel like that was the case last year, but I don't live in NC, so what do I know?

I've sent almost all of those out recently to trade partners basically as $4$. I haven't sent out Appalachia or Tributary as I just don't like them much and haven't sent out Capricious as its new and I haven't had my fill yet  I'd agree with others that they are all solid $4$ beers. Abyss isn't that hard to get at all if your friend trades, so I wouldn't get hung about it. Abraxas is harder to get, or maybe I just don't have any contacts from that area.

Make sure both of you are happy and drink some beer

Last year it was actually available for longer than it probably will be this year. I feel like EH was available for 3-4 months last year and this year it might be gone in another couple weeks. As much as OHB tries to avoid the hype train, Lindley Park and EH have a pretty decent following.

I trade them $4$, or slightly above for people way out of the chance of getting them. I don't get them often, only in the summer, but I have a trading partner who wants me, and trades me Bruery stuff for them, so we both win. I'm not stingy with it, so if it's someone you want to keep around and want to be generous with.. Go $4$, or around the ballpark as normal.

Black Angel, Serenity and Gensis are the 3 on your list that will have people wanting. The others.. meh.

The 2013 batch was around until about May. And it as one of their best in years IMO. Haven't tried the 2014 yet but from what I've heard from fellow friends, it's still a great beer.

As for your original reason for posting on this forum, I'd go $4$ on this. Abyss should be attainable for you with this arsenal.

I'd say that Black Angel and Oblivion are the top in terms of trade value/desirability of the regular lineup. In my experience at least.

Agreed. I've only had one guy specifically ask for Genesis or Serenity (though certainly no one turned them down either), but plenty asking for Black Angel or Oblivion.

Yeah I've had people ask me for Genesis and Serenity a 2nd time after they tried it and liked it, but the other two are the ones people who haven't had anything from WW always seem to want based on rating/word of mouth/whatever else. I also traded a good amount of Lusus Naturae when it came out the first time.

I typically get the most requests for Black Angel, Oblivion, Serenity, and Genesis. The rest people just say they are glad to have tried them. I expect Capricious to probably be well received, I enjoyed it.

Malice was another that people liked when I traded it to them.

I trade a metric ton of WW and EH out, and they really are worth what everyone says, $4$, thats about it.

If you want to win over your partner over and keep trading with them, just go $4$ and destroy his porch with whatever leftover beers you have that didn't end up in the original trade.
