    One of my favorite beers. I gave one to a friend once who tried said it was like drinking jerky. I guess rauchbiers are pretty much an acquired taste - I acquired mine after about one sip.

    Didn't know there was a brewery in Fishkill! That's fairly close to me. I'll have to check it out. BTW, I like the two thumbs up and face arising from the glass!

    As a note, most of the Aecht Schlenkerla I've seen posted (and posted, myself) is the Urbock, not the Märzen (which is what you had, if your pic is accurate). I don't know how different the two are, as I've only had the former. The smoke was pretty strong in the Urbock, but nowhere near overpowering, and I'm not a very experienced Rauchbier drinker.

    FWIW, the Märzen is lower ABV and has a lower overall rating on BA; that may or may not be relevant. Could be you just don't like the style.
